Race 1 Sunshine Coast 2.55 Chief Artie (5/6)

Likeable type who has good early speed so should go forward from a good draw and likely to take all the beating in this field; form stacks up and fitter now so everything points towards a big run; hard to oppose.

This race has really cut up now with a ton of non runners so it looks a great chance for CHIEF ARTIE to make the breakthrough. He has run some big races in defeat and given he will be hitting peak fitness now I think he’ll take plenty of catching. Kerchak is making his debut and won a barrier trial so could be the danger as those with form look pretty limited. Dembe ran well when second here in the summer but has failed to build on that since so has a bit to prove. Star Strutting shaped better when fifth at Toowoomba last time and could be the value to hit the frame but this is tougher so he’ll need more to land a blow. Miss Pierro is at least unexposed but hasn’t shown a great deal so far.

Race 1 Grafton 2.30 Hichaux (10/11)

Useful sort who took his form up a level to win here on penultimate start and then looked unlucky missing by just a nose last time; remains in great form and should take all the beating in what looks a winnable race.

It’s hard to get away from HICHAUX here as he comes here in really good form and is arguably a tad unlucky not to be arriving on a hat-trick. The Fringe is the only other horse in the field with good recent form so she looks the danger to the favourite. That was her first career win though and she might not get as good a pace to aim at. You’ll Think Of Me is a useful enough yardstick but is yet to taste victory and this looks quite tough again. He should run his race but is vulnerable for win purposes. Oso Good has placed 5 times from 19 attempts and quite simply needs more to spring an upset here. Man And Superman, Jesko and Peralta all need to find something and I’m struggling to see many positives.
