Race 7 Gosford 6.30 Brookspire (4/5)

Progressive mare who met trouble at the start before running on for second at Rosehill on return; improved on that to win at Randwick last time impressively; more to come and should have too much for these.

This looks a great chance for the improving BROOKSPIRE to record win number 5. She did it really well at Randwick and this is easier if anything. She remains open to further improvement and should always be coming home best here. Expat certainly is no mug with 6 wins from 11 starts but she ran a stinker at Eagle Farm last time and needs to bounce back from that. She’ll probably want some more rain to lay a glove on this favourite. Amica has to be respected on exposed form but is 0/2 at this track and I think she is running for a place at best to be honest. Zou De Moon is a nice mare in the making with 3 wins from 8 starts already and she is comfortably best of the rest in here.

Race 2 Canberra 3.21 Per Ivy (5/6)

Exciting filly who made a perfect start winning on debut at Wyong despite showing signs of inexperience; runner-up in a trial at Warwick since so should be spot on for this now and has a good draw too so hard to beat.

I liked the way PER IVY prevailed on debut and she is well placed to make it a perfect 2-2 here for Matthew Smith and Jack Martin. This is certainly no given but she has potential to rate a lot higher than these so should be winning. Moon Dancer looked promising winning at Wagga on penultimate start but could only finish down the field at Moruya last time so needs to bounce back from that. If she does she looks the one to give the fav most to think about. Extravagent Lad has already reached a decent level and was only denied a nose here last time so also has to enter the reckoning. Sifu arrives chasing a hat-trick but this is definitely tougher so she is going to need more again to remain in winning form.
