NAP – Best selection of the evening

Chepstow 2.00 Frenchy Du Large (15/8)

Well backed before unseating at the very first flight at Carlisle on chase debut; quickly made amends winning impressively at Uttoxeter; up 9lb but plenty of size and scope and sure to improve; should follow up.

The likeable FRENCHY DU LARGE always looked a chaser in the making so it was all the more encouraging to see him get his head in front on final start over hurdles at Ludlow. Things didn’t go to plan on chase debut at Carlisle but that was just a blip and he was quickly back on track winning impressively at Uttoxeter last month. He is a big horse with plenty of scope so he should keep on improving for a while yet. The handicapper has noticed that too raising him 9lb for that 5-length win but that shouldn’t be enough to anchor him and he is strongly fancied to follow up. Eden Du Houx showed the benefit of a wind op to win at Ffos Las and looks the obvious danger if building on that run.

NAP

Chepstow 2.00 Frenchy Du Large (15/8)

Fakenham 1.40 Sure Touch (15/8)

Looked a nice prospect winning a bumper impressively on debut at Wincanton; looked a work in progress when runner-up on hurdles debut but failed to build on that at Ayr; up in trip for handicap debut and sure to improve.

Olly Murphy thinks a fair bit of SURE TOUCH so it will be disappointing if he can’t win here. He made a promising enough start over hurdles when second to Greatest Star at Southwell and I think he just failed to give his running when only fourth at Ayr last time. He is quickly switched to handicaps with a tongue-tie added and that coupled with the step up in trip should see him get back in the winners enclosure. He is a horse that could do quite well in time so they’d want to see him winning here. Glutnforpunishment won four times on the Flat which is no easy feat and ran well on return second here last month. Could be the danger if building on that. Thirtyfourstitches also has to be feared.
