Race 5 Sunshine Coast 9.30 Brave Nick (3/1)

Likeable type who went down just a head at Ballina last month before winning convincingly at the same venue last time, bossing them off the front; hard to oppose in current form and this trip suits him well.

We’ve gone for slightly bigger prices overnight Down Under for our best bets and BRAVE NICK catches the eye at Sunshine Coast. He really impressed last time and under similar tactics I think he’ll take plenty of catching again. He is 1-1 over this trip so should have more to come yet. Kippax won over C&D last time and has to be feared off the back of that but I actually think Pedal To The Metal could be the value to chase the selection home in second. He is unexposed and won well here last time so if improving on that should be in the mix for sure. At a bigger price Jabbar might run better than his odds are suggesting but he will need to leave that latest effort over track and trip well behind.

Race 7 Port Macquarie 5.55 Oh Say (4/1)

Good looking chestnut mare who took her form up a notch again over C&D last time winning convincingly; 3 from 5 at this track and already won 3 times over this trip so looks to have plenty going for her again.

I think 4/1 looks huge about OH SAY at Port Macquarie overnight. She is 3 from 5 at this track and impressed again last time. This is competitive granted but she is open to further improvement after just 16 starts and is comfortably the one to beat for me. Chase My Crown is 0/2 at the track and 0/3 over the trip but her Taree win was quite impressive. If she bounces back she could emerge as the main danger but does have a bit to prove. Empowerment is 3 from 13 overall and does have 2 wins over this distance so she could also have a say but I still think the selection has more pressing claims. Tawfiq Lass is another one that must enter calculations but she did finish last at Gosford last time.
