NAP – Best selection of the evening
Wolverhampton 5.00 Famous Star (10/11)
New Bay filly who has won 3 of her last 4 and really impressed up to 2 miles winning impressively here at the start of the month; good attitude to follow up last time; back in trip here but still has plenty going for her.
Given FAMOUS STAR won over a mile and a half at Lingfield as a 3yo she should have no issue with the drop back in trip here. Her form is very solid and she still has more to offer after just the 5 starts. A 5lb rise shouldn’t be enough to stop her bringing up the hat-trick and I expect her to go off a hot favourite come post time. Chipiron is the obvious danger. He can travel like a dream but he doesn’t find much off the bridle so I can see the pair knuckling down to fight it out late but the selection should hopefully be getting the better of the argument. Winklevi is certainly capable if things drop right but I do think the fav has greater potential and is on a real roll at present so should have him covered too.

Hereford 3.00 Prince Escalus (11/10)
Promising sort who won twice over hurdles and has shown plenty of potential in two starts over fences so far; denied just a short head at Wetherby and open to further improvement so good chance to get off the mark.
I think PRINCE ESCALUS has always been thought of as a chasing type and he showed there was plenty to work on when third to Buster Thomas at Market Rasen back in September. He backed that up losing out by the smallest of margins at Wetherby. He remains unexposed and freshened up since can go one better now. Monsieur Lecoq will need the first-time blinkers to spark him back into life and I’m struggling to see it. Given recent performances he has to be opposable even with just the 3 runners. Eritage is the danger but this drop in trip would have to be a negative for him. It will be interesting to see if he tries to match the selection early but I do think he’ll end up getting outpaced.
