THE AUSSIE NAP (BEST BET) RUNS IN RACE 3 AT FLEMINGTON ON SATURDAY!

Race 3 Flemington 2.45 Rose Quartz (11/8)

Progressive mare who is a perfect 2-2 over track and trip and ran out an impressive winner here last month despite racing keenly; definitely more in the locker yet and looks a horse to keep firmly on side today and going forward.

This definitely has more strength in depth than that last race ROSE QUARTZ won over C&D but she is a mare firmly on the upgrade and I think she’ll be given a nice stalking ride here before looking to pounce. I don’t think we’ve seen the best of her yet and she looks worth keeping safe against these. She has won 3 of her last 4 and is unbeaten over C&D so what’s not to like? The danger is Bermadez for Michael Moroney. He has won 4 from 9 and has the ability to land a serious blow. He struggled a little when last seen albeit in a hot race and I just feel he’ll need more to cope with this favourite. Of the rest Imperial Lad is a decent yardstick and he should run into a place if keeping up the gallop.

Race 7 Murray Bridge 5.32 Quietly Discreet (6/4)

Likeable mare who has won 2 of her last 3 and showed a good attitude to run on strongly late and get nicely on top at Morphettville last month; only going to improve from that reappearance and easily the most likely winner again.

With added fitness this is a great chance for QUIETLY DISCREET to win again. She settled nicely last time before taking sight and running them down late. There is further improvement to come and if she does step forward then she will have these in trouble. Obviously Young Jimmy is on a real winning spree right now but he will find this much tougher than recent assignments and for me is going to be a bit vulnerable despite the low draw. Cool Magnum might emerge as a greater danger as he has been running to a consistent level and deserves to be in the mix. Desired might be a good bet to hit the frame after a solid second last month. Munster has more to come but this is tough.
