Impressive winner on debut breaking smartly out the stalls before making all the running to land a nice gamble; sure to improve from that initial effort and looks well placed here to make it a perfect 2-2; keep safe for now.
There was lots to like about the way UNCLE RUSS won on debut and with further improvement to come I don’t see anything good enough in here to stop him going 2 from 2. He will be ridden forward again and should dictate throughout. Gemelon Bolt is second in the betting but he has just the 1 win from 12 attempts so that speaks volumes to me about the lack of strength in depth in this contest. Reliable Ruby is at least still unexposed but she ran poorly at Gold Coast and needs to leave that behind to lay a glove on this favourite. Weneiri has a similar profile but would have to be considered if bouncing back. I do still think he has a future so he might be the bet to finish second.

Race 3 Hawkesbury 5.00 Norwegian Bliss (13/8)
Unbeaten mare who didn’t put a hoof wrong last season capping off a good season with another convincing win at Newcastle in November; form stacks up and likely to have strengthened up since; can win on return.
I’ve liked what I’ve seen so far from NORWEGIAN BLISS and I think she can make it a perfect 5-5 here. She will go forward and look to burn these off and even on her reappearance it is going to take a good one to stop her here. Kir Royale has more to offer after just the 4 starts and looms as a lively danger to the selection. Six Again is a nice looking mare who has 2 wins from 5 starts so has to be respected. Lacks the potential of the favourite though. Way To The Stars is a colt with a future and should also run well but again strictly on the figures has enough to find to spring an upset here. Sacrimony and Stormborn best of the rest but hard to see them involved really.
