Race 4 Bendigo 4.20 Wrote To Arataki (11/8)

Promising filly who has won 2 of her 4 starts to date and impressed again winning at Sandown at the start of the month; won second-up before and looks to have everything in favour once more; one to keep safe.

Hard to look past WROTE TO ARATAKI at Bendigo on Sunday. She won well last time and her win second-up earlier in the year was impressive. She has scope to keep improving and as long as she gets a good pace to run down again she will be storming home late. Starsongari was a good third last time having been out of form. If she can build on that she will be the main danger to the favourite. Brookline has won 2 from 5 and is building a nice profile so might not be too far away again. I Like Big Putts still has potential but this is quite competitive so she is likely a longer-term project for me but it wouldn’t surprise me to see her run well in third or fourth for example. The rest all have enough to find.

Race 7 Port Macquarie 6.39 Eiger (9/4)

Tough sort who comes here chasing a hat-trick after winning at Scone and then Inverell last time; hard to oppose in current form and surprised he isn’t shorter in the betting as this lacks any real strength in depth.

We head to Port Macquarie overnight and focus on the feature race on the card. EIGER is eyeing up a hat-trick and under likely positive tactics he should take a lot of pegging back. He is proven over this trip and it’s hard to find many chinks in his armour. Relucent was a good second at Grafton on penultimate start but blew out at Canterbury when last seen in December. If he bounces back on return he might figure but short enough in the betting given he has enough to prove off the back of that last effort. Texas Storm is exposed but still has to be respected. Acoustix still has it to prove over the trip so is hard to warm to despite his consistency. Similar comments apply to Big Surprise.
