Race 5 Muswellbrook 5.35 Mobstar (10/11)

Promising sort who learned on the job to wind up strongly and get up late to make a winning debut over shorter here last month; going to come on plenty for that and should relish this step up in trip; most likely winner.

I’m looking forward to seeing MOBSTAR out again at Muswellbrook and I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t make it a perfect 2-2 for Kris Lees and Dylan Gibbons. He looks a horse destined for better things so he should win this before being targeted at some bigger prizes. He will relish the extra yardage judged by that debut win and I can’t see him beaten here. Jutland improved to open his account at the third time of asking at Newcastle last month and he looks a promising enough prospect himself but he is just bumping into one here. Our Cousin Al has just the 1 win from 13 attempts and definitely needs more to even get competitive. Hard to recommend many of the others.

Race 4 Royal Randwick 2.40 Roots (1/1)

Exciting filly who made a winning start at Goulburn and then looked a bit unlucky taken back from a wide barrier before running on strongly at the finish; form franked since; sure to improve and hard to get away from here.

With Fangirl winning impressively at Flemington since that makes ROOTS a strong play here. She is a filly on the up and only went down half a length last time with plenty having gone wrong. She will love going up to the mile now and should have too much for these rivals. Gracilistyla opened his account at Warwick Farm last month and looks a danger off the back of that. He likes to push forward so is probably the pace angle. Lease has just the 1 win from 9 attempts but isn’t a bad colt and he should be thereabouts up with the speed. Holstein brings potential to the table after just the 4 runs but has enough to prove after finishing last at Randwick last time. The other two are up against it.
