THE AUSSIE NAP (BEST BET) WON AGAIN OVERNIGHT AND IS NOW ON A FOUR-TIMER!

Race 8 Lismore 6.34 Asherla (5/4)

Promising filly who won impressively at Doomben and looked a filly going places; only fourth at Sunshine Coast last time but had excuses and given a bit of time since can bounce back here; looks the most likely winner.

I’m expecting the improving ASHERLA to prove a cut above these. I know things didn’t quite work out at Sunshine Coast last time but she had excuses and is better judged on her impressive victory at Doomben prior to that. If she resumes her progress here she should win before going on to better things in time. Star Magnum is a decent yardstick and he looks the most obvious danger with a win already over this trip. He has also scored at this track which is a plus. In Awe Of Me has 3 wins from 10 starts and impressed at Ipswich last time so also has to enter calculations. Nothing appeals much at bigger prices but perhaps Venusian has the potential to hit the frame at a double-figure price.

THE AUSSIE NB (SECOND BEST BET) RUNS IN RACE 6 AT ESPERANCE OVERNIGHT!

Race 6 Esperance 9.20 Royal Soldier (6/4)

Likeable type who looked unlucky on return getting caught wide but finishing well for second over shorter here last month; put that right winning well here last time and extra yardage only going to help again.

There’s lots to like about ROYAL SOLDIER here and if he improves again on that last run he will take all the beating. This isn’t a bad race but he looks a nice horse and after just 9 starts I don’t think we’ve seen the best of him. Aboard has been knocking on the door lately but is starting to look pretty exposed with just 1 win from 26 starts. He needs more to upset this favourite. Blue Turns To Grey is also exposed but has been running to a consistent level so won’t be far away. He chased home the selection last time and needs more to reverse that form. Spring To Life made the breakthrough last time but this is tougher so he’ll need more to back that up. Joyrize best of the rest and a bit overpriced.
