Goodwood 1.50 Ladbrokes Best Odds Guaranteed Fillies’ Handicap 1m4f

Last year’s winner Alemagna is back to try and retain her crown off a 4lb higher mark. She has a decent chance of backing up for her trainer who does well in this race. That said ICE SPRITE (best price 6/5) will take a lot of beating seeking her hat-trick. She is 2 out of 2 in handicaps winning nicely at Newmarket and Windsor. She has good form on soft ground and will be tough to beat under a 6lb penalty.

Last year’s winner is obviously entitled to be dangerous but the main danger for me is the Mark Johnston runner Margaret Dumont who may get an easy lead on the front and hopefully they don’t let her get too far ahead as she will be hard to peg back given the conditions.

Perth 2.05 bet365 Novices’ Handicap Chase (GBB Race) 2m

This looks a great chance for SCARDURA (best price 6/4) to open his account over fences. He certainly has the size and scope to do well in this sphere and ran a very encouraging race back from 4 months off when chasing home the promising Longhouse Sale at Stratford last month. He is open to improvement off the back of that and if he does step forward he should have too much for these rivals. 6/4 looks a fair price and I can see him going off even shorter than that.

Guardia Top is a likeable filly who did well over hurdles. She could only finish fourth on chase debut at Market Rasen but was better than the bare form of that race and she should get competitive here. Looks the main danger! Global Tour left his reappearance run over hurdles well behind when making a winning chase debut at Bangor and while this is tougher up 6lb he shouldn’t be ruled out either.

Goodwood 2.25 Ladbrokes Giving Extra Places Every Day Handicap 6f

Tough race to call on paper with none of these finishing in the places on their last runs. ATALANTA’S BOY (best price 9/2) has an excuse here last time after rearing as the stalls opened and never had a chance from there. As a result he got dropped 2lb by the handicapper and looks to have a good chance in these conditions. He has won on heavy ground and fast ground so he won’t be inconvenienced by however the ground turns out on the day and should bounce back and go close.

Chairmanoftheboard looks the danger as he has very good form at the track and has been in the mix on every run this season. I just prefer the selection getting 7lb from him. Alaadel is entitled to get competitive and has been backed but wouldn’t be for me. Louie De Palma is the interesting one at a price but does have a bit to prove at present.

Perth 2.40 bet365 Handicap Hurdle (GBB Race) 2m4f

The progressive Imperial Elysian is chasing a four-timer after bolting up on return at Southwell last month. He is obviously hugely respected but an 11lb rise looks a bit harsh to me as he isn’t the most fluent of jumpers and pitched into a better race here under that burden may be found out. I’m happy to let him go and win at those odds anyway so definitely keen to take him on.

NATIVE FIGHTER (best price 13/2) is the one I’ve come down on for James Moffatt. He ended last year with a convincing win at Carlisle before running on the Flat at Newcastle and then again on return at Hamilton. He caught the eye in third back over timber at Carmel last month and the step back in trip can prove a big positive. He still has scope off this mark for me and looks a big danger to the favourite. Dear sire is a likeable type who won at Bangor on return last month and ran creditably in defeat at Uttoxeter last time. Also in with a shout in a competitive race.

Goodwood 3.00 Ladbrokes Get Your Daily Odds Boost Handicap 1m2f

A tight little handicap with just 7lb splitting the 5 runners. Other than Overwrite who has run 11 times this field is relatively unexposed and don’t be surprised if one takes a big step forward. For me NATIVE TRIBE looks a prime candidate to improve a lot. He was gelded before his last run and put in a much better performance at Sandown to finish 2nd and now the blinkers are applied today it looks the day to get his head in-front.

With conditions looking like they will be testing It’s Good To Laugh could be the main danger even though he is the outsider of this small field he handles the forecast conditions very well so has to be feared. It’s the sort of race where none of them can be completely ruled out.

Goodwood 3.00

Native Tribe 9/4

Perth 3.15 bet365 Sam Morshead Perth Gold Cup Handicap Chase (GBB Race) 3m

A wide open handicap chase now with the Perth Gold Cup and I’ve taken a chance on one in SOUPY SOUPS (best price 8/1) for Neil Mulholland. This gelding by Stowaway has some solid form in the book from last term and while he wasn’t as his best behind Imada at Bangor last time he is a C&D winner and back here could easily revive. A mark of 132 could easily be exploited and I think he’s the value play.

There are a whole host of dangers including Imada who is on a roll at present. A 14lb higher mark makes things a lot tougher though and he will ned to pull out more if he is to follow up. Looks opposable at the prices. As You Like is plenty talented and scored impressively at Southwell on return. A 4lb rise looks manageable and he is feared most for me. The Young Master isn’t getting any younger but he can’t be ignored either. Looking forward to this one!

Goodwood 3.35 Ladbrokes Supreme Stakes (Group 3) 7f

Not a bad Group 3 with plenty of these taking on each other in the past. D’BAI has gone close plenty this season without getting his head in-front at pattern level. He has run behind Space Blues 3 times who has gone on to win a Group 1 in Deauville since. He does have the form to win this even though he needs to reverse the form with Escobar who disappointed last time and in my opinion he is the best horse in the race.

In the conditions Snazzy Jazzy looks the danger as all his best form is on soft ground and I think he will chase the selection home. Happy Power is currently favourite and while he was visually impressive last time he still has to prove it at this level for me and is a bit short.
