Longshot

Cheltenham 2.35 Kilbricken Storm (7/1)

Albert Bartlett winner in 2018; well backed on return from 251 days off the track but looked to need it; would be a big player here if building on that and might be worth chancing at a nice each way price.

We head to Cheltenham for today’s Longshot and KILBRICKEN STORM is chanced to bounce back for Colin Tizzard. He was sent off second favourite on his return here last month but never got involved. If he improves for that effort he’ll be a danger to all so the 7/1 is worth taking (each way). Skandiburg, The Jam Man and Might Bite are lively dangers.

Steamer

Fairyhouse 2.40 Castlebawn West (4/1)

Promising type who did well over hurdles and shaped with promise on debut over fences behind Ronald Pump; likely to take a big step forward for that now and the market is certainly suggesting he is going to be a big player here.

The Steamer could only manage third yesterday so hopefully we can bounce back this afternoon. CASTLEBAWN WEST has been subject to strong support throughout the day and looks to have a big shout of getting off the mark over fences here for Willie Mullins. He clearly needed the run on return but did shape encouragingly and with improvement on the cards looks a good bet to come out on top. Milan Native is the danger having finished second to Royal Rendezvous at Thurles last time.

Longshot Steamer Double

We’ve combined both the Longshot and Steamer to make an Each Way Double on New Year’s Day. It pays a HUGE 35/1 and looks worth covering.
