Longshot
Sandown 3.00 Dark Flame (6/1)
Lightly raced for his age and showed he retained plenty of ability when second over C&D following over 2 years off the track; second past post in void race here next time and should run a big race in first-time headgear.
The Longshot was disappointing yesterday despite being backed from 13/2 into 5/2. We’ll be hoping for better luck today and DARK FLAME is the one that catches the eye. The 11yo showed he still had plenty of enthusiasm for the game when second to the ill-fated Houblon Des Obeaux over C&D in November and backed that up when second past the post in the void race here next time. The headgear could eek out a bit more improvement and he is taken to go close at a nice price.
Steamer
Lingfield 12.10 Universal Gleam (9/4)
Useful sort who picked up well through a tight gap to win readily over C&D last time, crossing the line with a bit in hand; 4lb rise fair and the money is certainly suggesting another big run is in order.
When the money is down on a Keith Dalgleish runner it is rarely ever too far off the mark and UNIVERSAL GLEAM makes plenty of appeal here having struck over C&D last time. He is just 4lb higher and if in the same form should be up to following up. Creationist is talented albeit frustrating but looks a danger and Humbert is also considered. Sky Defender and Humbert should ensure it is run at a good clip.
Longshot Steamer Double
We’ve combined both the Longshot and Steamer to make an Each Way Double on Saturday. It pays 22/1 and looks worth covering (each way).
