Preview Pointer
Lingfield 3.10 Mrs Upjohn (6/4)
Promising filly who shaped well on debut at a big price when second at Newcastle; well backed when filling the same position over C&D latest; likely to improve again and could prove hard to beat in the first-time cheekpieces; favourites chance.
Having struck the crossbar on both starts to date MRS UPJOHN looks a good bet here to go one better. The first-time cheekpieces should help eek out some more improvement and with experience on side she rates the one to beat. She also has a good draw so is likely to be a short price come post time. This isn’t overly strong either. The biggest danger looks to be True Scarlet who is another open to progress. Believe In Love could have done with a stronger gallop latest so is also respected. It’s between the three.
Eye Catcher
Kempton 2.05 Frodon (2/1)
Feels like he’s been around for years but amazingly he’s still an 8yo; won 4 from 5 last season including the Ryanair but failed to fire so far this term; well beaten by Lostintranslation at Haydock last time; big danger if bouncing back here.
Top Notch will be popular having won the Peterborough Chase at Huntingdon last time but for me at the prices FRODON looks worth chancing to bounce back. He has run two poor races to date this season but is top rated here and is said to be showing all the right signs at home so a revival could be imminent. It looks between the pair and I’ll be surprised if anything else gets involved. I’m looking forward to a good race and hopefully Nicholls’ star can dethrone the favourite.
