Useful type on the Flat and quickly made up into a useful hurdler last season winning at Fontwell and Newbury; lost his way since but down 5lb and had a wind op since last seen and this looks a very winnable race.
I think the market support for CHRISTOPHER WOOD looks significant here. He opened up around 5/2 but has been strong in the market since, into around 13/8 but even at that price looks a good bet to come out on top. He is a useful operator when on song and with his handicap mark tumbling and a wind op since last seen he could get back on track here. It’s a winnable race so fingers crossed for a big run! Dear Sire is probably the main danger but he won’t want to get into a battle with the selection.

Southwell 6.00 Porta Brasileiro (9/4)
Struck over C&D in October and held his form well in defeat since; chased home course specialist Silverturnstogold in November and another good run behind Split Down South in January; not so good last time but big shout back here.
A lot like the NAP today we rather need PORTA BRASILEIRO to bounce back but if he does he is a danger to all here. He clearly likes this C&D and I’m happy to forgive him that last run. He is just 4lb higher than winning over track and trip in October and with Ben Curtis a notable booking connections clearly fancy a big run from the selection. Jem Scuttle is on a long losing run but probably represents the main threat on all known form. Loulin is back up in trip and is another to consider.
