Race 8 Gulfstream 9.21 Venezuelan Hug (13/8)
Created a big impression sweeping past the opposition to make the breakthrough over track and trip last month, winning by over five lengths at the line; promising colt who looks open to further improvement; the one they all have to beat.
The way VENEZUELAN HUG came storming past the opposition here last time was mightily impressive and he is one I want to be with going forward not just today. He has tons of ability and showed a serious engine to make the breakthrough last time. He can step forward on that too and should prove a class above these. Irad Ortiz is in the saddle so what’s not to like? Should take all the beating! Jesus’ Team would obviously be a danger if it switched to dirt but Blood Moon is probably the main threat on turf.

Race 4 Golden Gate Fields 10.20 Muskoka (13/8)
Useful type who ran well on return over a trip shorter than ideal when third here over 6f earlier this month; should step forward physically for that and will appreciate the step back up to a mile now; looks the one to beat.
With the original NAP a late scratching the NB became our new best bet so we’ve had to replace the Next Best and we now head to Golden Gate Fields where MUSKOKA will be hard to stop. He is a useful sort who ran well on return over an inadequate trip. Back up to a mile now he should improve and if he does he’ll be hard to stop in a winnable race. Pegasus Sprint finished one place in front of Nil Phet when second over track and trip last time and probably rates the biggest danger but I’ll be disappointed if the fav doesn’t win.
