Saturday’s Best Bets

Siskin was electric in the Irish 2000 Guineas as despite Ballydoyle trying everything to box him in he burst out and quickened away smartly to win. He remains unbeaten and now he’s proven over a mile could be anything. Exciting times! We have the 1000 Guineas on Saturday and it looks all about Albigna. Can’t wait!

NAP – Best selection of the evening

THE NAP RUNS IN THE IRISH 1000 GUINEAS ON SATURDAY!

Curragh 7.15 Albigna (2/1)

Smart filly as a juvenile winning three of her five starts including the Group 1 Marcel Boussac at Longchamp; plenty of scope so can improve again as a 3yo and rates the one to beat here with the yard firing.

Standard bearer ALBIGNA can strike here for Jessica Harrington! She already sets a high benchmark and with the promise of more to come I think she’ll prove too strong. She is a big filly who I’ve always liked and it would be good to see her kick on again this season and hit the very top. She was given too much to do at the Breeders’ Cup when last seen and is better judged on her Group 1 win in France prior to that. The biggest danger looks to be Peaceful for Aidan O’Brien. She ran well in a Listed race last time and can progress.

NB – Second best selection of the day

THE NEXT BEST RUNS AT NEWBURY ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON!

Newbury 3.35 King Of Comedy (2/1)

Relatively lightly raced for his age but has some strong form in the book and goes well fresh so every reason to expect a big run here; went down just a neck in the St James’s Palace at Royal Ascot a year ago; hard to beat at this level.

Expecting KING OF COMEDY to go well here for John Gosden and Martin Harley. There is no doubting his talent but sometimes he doesn’t channel it in the right direction. The best time to catch him is probably fresh and everything looks in place for a big run here down to Group 3 level. Zaaki is another horse that goes well fresh so will probably emerge as the biggest danger. Tabarrak is a talented sort but he’ll be one I want to keep on side once he’s had a couple of runs I think as fitness can be an issue. The favourites to lose!
