Sandown 1.50 The Coral Charge

A decent sprint to kick-off ITV Racing on Sunday and a horse we like a lot should be tough to beat. LIBERTY BEACH stepped up on her very good form when last seen running 3rd behind Bataash at Royal Ascot. If she runs to that level she should take all the beating. She is drawn 6 which is perfect as she is drawn near market rivals and Caspian Prince who will make this a truly run race.

A the time of writing Lazuli is the favourite for this and despite his easy win over course and distance he still has to prove himself at this level and our selection has the form in the book.

Haydock 2.05 The bet365.com Handicap Stakes

I thought there was a lot to like about the run of SUBJECTIVIST in the King George V Stakes at Royal Ascot behind Hukum and Kipps. He shaped as though a stiffer test would suit and with Richard Kingscote on top looks to have a great chance to take this out. Mark Johnston has taken the last two runnings of this race too so knows what it takes to win. The selection is a half-brother to last year’s winner Sir Ron Priestley so has the perfect profile for the race.

Favorite Moon is the danger as the market suggests. He chased home Indigo Lake at Doncaster last time and is improving too so has to be feared.

Sandown 2.25 The Coral Henry II Stakes

Tiny field for a Group 3 stayers race and there is one they all have to beat. CROSS COUNTER hasn’t been at his best this season but the run behind the ultra impressive Stradivarius at Royal Ascot was promising as he was staying on late. Back down to 2 miles will be perfect for Charlie Appleby’s gelding and as we already know he is much better than group 3 level on his day.

Withold is the main danger but Cross Counter had him in behind at Ascot and Cross Counter will likely prove better for the run.

Haydock 2.40 The bet365 Lancashire Oaks

Hard to get away from MANUELA DE VEGA here. She is a likeable filly who lowered the colours of Fanny Logan at Haydock when last seen. That rival has since won the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot impressively so the form has been given a handsome boost. It will be interesting to see if they push forward with her again as there is a fair bit of pace on with Spirit Of Appin and Hereby both tending to go forward. Either way I think she’ll have too much for them and rates my best bet of the day.

Cabaletta beat Frankly Darling on debut before chasing home Franconia at Newbury last time and can do better so should emerge as the main danger.

Haydock 2.40

Manuela De Vega 11/10 NAP

Sandown 3.00 The Coral Gala Stakes

A tough handicap where a few of these could go on to run in group company if they keep improving at the current rate. Dark Vision beat MONTATHAM at Royal Ascot powering home at the finish. Today they meet on 3lb better terms for our selection and I can see him reversing the form. Before Ascot Dark Vision had 4 more days rest which would have helped a fair bit. Monthatham has gone close in his last 4 handicap runs (beaten under 3 lengths each time). With his trainer William Haggas in good form it could be his time to strike.

Dark Vision will be a danger as always along with Mutasaamy who is owned by the same connections as the selection.

Haydock 3.15 The bet365 Old Newton Cup Handicap Stakes

A competitive renewal of the Old Newton Cup and I’m quite surprised to see Ranch Hand as short in the market as he is. He wasn’t disgraced at Royal Ascot 18 days ago but I expected more and I don’t think I’m keen to take the shortish odds about him here. LAAFY makes much more appeal for Sir Michael Stoute. This gelding by Noble Mission had hinted as being a really promising horse a few times so it was good to see him put it altogether at Newbury last time. He powered clear to win by over 4 lengths at the line and I think 9/2 is very fair about him backing that up.

Babbo’s Boy showed improved form when winning on return and is capable of better yet so is feared most but Deja can also be thereabouts if building on that encouraging second to Scarlet Dragon on return.

Sandown 3.35 The Coral Eclipse

Since they announced the schedule this is one of the races we have been waiting for, The Coral Eclipse and the return of the wonder mare ENABLE. She was last seen losing out to a very good horse in the Arc making her record an impressive 13 wins in 15 races. She won this race last year and will take all the beating again this year.

Ghaiyyath proved all doubters wrong at Newmarket when impressing and will strip fitter for the win. That said I can’t see Frankie Dettori letting him get such a lead and Japan with a run under his belt could prove the main danger.
