Footstepsinthesand colt who improved on recent efforts to win readily over C&D 8 days ago, staying on well; penalty negated by rider’s claim and this looks an obvious chance for him to go and follow up; hard to oppose.

Turned out quickly under a penalty it’s hard to look past Richard Hannon’s IN THE COVE here. He clearly enjoyed this track with the way he finished and with useful 5lb claimer Thore Hammer Hansen booked for the ride another big run looks on the cards. Rivas Rob Roy, Blessed To Empress and Mad Endeavour will make sure this is run at a true gallop and that should suit the selection who will look to finish best. He raced keenly last time so a bit of cover can help him settle and could result in an even better performance.

Haydock 6.25 Trueshan (2/1)

Improved fast last season winning four of his five starts; looked to need the run when fourth behind Dashing Willoughby on return at Newmarket, only beaten three and a quarter lengths, and can step forward plenty now; big chance.

This is a good Listed contest but the one that stands out to me is TRUESHAN for Alan King. He was most progressive last season and is expected to improve markedly for that return where he was far from disgraced. He is open to improvement and can resume his progression. El Misk went down narrowly at Newmarket and is entitled to be thereabouts off the back of that. Alignak won impressively on return on the AW and should also have more to come. Probably the main danger but fancy the selection to prove too strong.
