Goodwood 1.10 British European Breeders Fund EBF Fillies’ Handicap (1m)
Glorious Goodwood kicks off with a competitive fillies’ handicap over a mile. Charlie Fellowes tasted success in this last year with Maid For Life who sprung a 12/1 upset. We’ll be hoping the market principals disappoint again as we fancy DECLARED INTEREST to run huge at a price. This filly by Declaration Of War won impressively on reappearance back from 216 days off the track at Chelmsford and while she has been beaten at Ascot the last twice I think this track will suit and down 2lb she looks a major player here. She has potential to do better yet and shouldn’t be ruled out here.
Kingman filly Wasaayef improved with every run as a 2yo and promises to do better now so is feared. She hasn’t been seen for 311 days though and is facing some race-fit rivals so may just be one to watch today. Tomorrow’s Dream is progressive and should still have more to offer off a mark of 84 so is noted. Angel Power is probably the biggest danger though as she only went down narrowly last time still looking rough round the edges.
Goodwood 1.45 Unibet You’re On Handicap (Class 2) 1m2f
This handicap is always well represented and 18 runners are due to line-up again this year. Last years winning connections have Tinandali representing them who was unlucky in the John Smith’s Cup where our selection FIFTH POSITION finished 3rd in-front of him. I like horses that have run at Goodwood before and our selection has previously, finishing 4th in the Bonhams Thoroughbred Stakes. The extra 2 furlongs looks right up his street after he won over it at Doncaster and he looks sure to go close.
Along with Tinandali, Derevo looks a good prospect, he is lightly raced plus he should have a fair bit to come and is the main danger with Ryan Moore onboard. At a bigger prices Alternative Fact goes well over this trip and may be a bit of value to run into a place under Jason Watson.
Goodwood 2.15 Veuve Clicquot Vintage Stakes (Group 2) 7f
The Daily Value Tip runs in this race! We have one of these a day and it’s one of our strongest selections on the card so is not to be missed.

Goodwood 2.45 Qatar Lennox Stakes (Group 2) 7f
Sir Dancelot is back to attempt a hat-trick in this race after taking the last 2 renewals. Although his form isn’t great he usually comes to hand for this meeting and I wouldn’t rule him out. It doesn’t look a strong Group 2 on paper it looks more a Group 3 bar SPACE BLUES who is the class act in the race. His run at Longchamp to beat D’Bai was impressive and it will have him cherry ripe for this race. His trainer Charlie Appleby is hitting top form over the last week or so and I expect the selection to be one of many winners for him this week.
The only minor doubt would be his draw out wide in 12 as it usually pays to be drawn low here but his class should get him through. The main danger does have the prime draw in 1 and Safe Voyage is a model of consistency but the selection has beaten him already this year and will hopefully confirm that form.
Goodwood 3.15 Al Shaqab Goodwood Cup Stakes (Group 1) 2m
Santiago is a horse I like a lot and I have no doubt he has a huge future having already won the Queen’s Vase and the Irish Derby. He is clearly a top-class staying prospect but I just can’t get away from STRADIVARIUS. He is the best stayer in training and the way he left his rivals standing in the Ascot Gold Cup was truly mesmerising. That overhead shot will live long in the memory! He is unbeaten here and cannot be opposed. Not much of a price but a winner is better than a loser.
Nayef Road ran his heart out chasing home the selection last time and is around 20/1 again here. May well out-run those sorts of odds again so potential to back him in the markets against the other horses or without the front two in the betting for example.
Goodwood 3.45 Qatar Handicap (Class 2) 5f
This handicap seems a bit more clear cut with CELSIUS having a course and distance win to his name at this meeting a year ago plus he looks to have more to come at this level. He returned to the track with a win at Haydock before being bumped at the start and not put into the race next time up. His 2nd at Newmarket last time reads well with the winner Han Solo Berger following up that win with a 2nd by a nose. The ground should be slightly faster than that day and he has a good chance of adding to his 5 handicap wins over the last 2 seasons.
The main danger is Acclaim The Nation who is 4lb better off with our selection after finishing 2nd to him at Haydock however I’m not sure that would be enough to turn the tables as the latter had less time off so may have been fitter of the two that day.
Goodwood 4.20 British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes (Class 2) 6f
I have this between the front two in the market. ALKUMAIT showed an abundance of talent amidst greenness on debut at Newbury and when the penny dropped he ran on really well to be beaten just a length at the line. He can take a big step forward from that now and open his account. He is well bred so could be a smart individual.
Majd Al Arab is likely to set the pace and looks the main danger. Hopefully they don’t give him a soft lead as he could runaway with this if he gets everything go his way. He is by The Gurkha and stepped up on his debut run when narrowly touched off at Newmarket. He did hang late so clearly has his quirks but there is a big engine there too. Hopefully the selection gets within striking distance as if he does then he wins but it’s out our hands as to whether the other jockeys in the race give Ryan Moore a soft lead or not.
Goodwood 4.55 British European Breeders Fund EBF Fillies’ Handicap (Class 3) 1m4f
Wide open finale on the opening day at Goodwood and I am going for one that I think has plenty still to come and hopefully AU CLAIR DE LUNE can step forward again today for George Scott and Ben Curtis. She was just beaten by A Star Above at Leicester last time and they pulled way clear of the rest. She is raised 6lb for that and this is a better race but she has only ran 3 times and she should have a fair bit to come.
Tulip Fields is the main danger, won here in June and is back down from Listed company. Dancing Approach also has to be respected having won her last two but is short enough in the betting and might be worth opposing.
Glorious Goodwood Win Trixie
Given there are 5 races live on ITV Racing and 8 races in total from Goodwood we have placed a Win Trixie on our three most confident selections of the day.
Glorious Goodwood Each Way Double
Here you can find our Each Way Double at Glorious Goodwood on Tuesday. These are two horses we fancy strongly at decent prices to make a big double.
