Goodwood 1.10 British Stallion Studs EBF Fillies’ Handicap (Class 2) 1m2f
A race where plenty will improve but WALIYAK really caught the eye at Royal Ascot running on behind Onassis who as franked the form big time with a win in a Listed race in France. She was unlucky that day running on the wrong side of the track and you have to mark up the performance. That was her first run of the season and you would expect her to be cherry ripe for this and will take some beating.
Be More rates as a big danger over this trip as her Sandown performance was very good and she won 3 times as a 3 year old including a win against Lady Bowthorpe who has gone onto better things.

Goodwood 1.45 Unibet You’re On Goodwood Handicap (Class 2) 2m41/2f
With Roger Charlton firing in the winners I can see True Destiny being well backed here. He was best of those held up when third in the Marsh Cup at Newbury last time so comes here in form but I think he’ll find one or two too good so may be worth opposing.
ROCHESTER HOUSE has the right sort of profile for this test and at 9/1 I’m willing to chance him for Mark Johnston. He won three times last season and while he is yet to strike this season he wasn’t beaten far by Coeur De Lion in the Ascot Stakes and again ran well when fifth in the Marsh Cup. I can see this track suiting him and he stands out to me as being overpriced in the market. Smart Champion also caught my eye as while he wasn’t at his best in the Northumberland Plate his previous form reads well and he’d be bang there if bouncing back.

Goodwood 2.45 Markel Insurance Molecomb Stakes (Group 3) 5f
Irish raider Steel Bull is the springer in the market and he did win well on debut at Naas so has to be respected but I think SARDINIA SUNSET has stronger form and is worth opposing him with. She probably didn’t need to improve to win at York last time but she has a likeable way of going and has plenty of scope so should continue to progress as the season goes on. She is a big strong filly who will be suited by this track and how the race might pan out.
I’m expecting Army Of India to push forward and Deliver The Dream may be on the pace too with our selection just tucked in behind. She should get first run on some of the market principals so hopefully that’s enough to secure the win. Significantly probably has the most ability of these but he isn’t channelling it as well as he could do right now so while I like him a lot with an eye to the future he will probably find a way of getting beat here.
Goodwood 3.15 Qatar Sussex Stakes (Group 1) 1m
The Irish Guineas winner vs The English Guineas winner here and we are siding with the Irish winner in SISKIN. He is unbeaten and we feel he can get the better of Kameko who was a good winner at Newmarket. The selection didn’t have the best trip but Colin Keane forced him out at the right time and he showed his turn of foot to put the race to bed. He has been given 6 weeks off to prepare for this whereas Kameko ran in the Derby and I expect him to remain unbeaten as a result.
Kameko is the main danger and personally would have him above Mohaather in the market as Kameko has beaten better horses and Mohaather has to give the 3 year olds 8lb.

Goodwood 3.45 Alice Keppel EBF Fillies’ Conditions Stakes (Class 2) 5f
Mark Johnston took this last year with Mrs Bouquet and he looks to have another big chance with PELEKAI. She knew her job making a winning debut at Newcastle last month and while she found the Queen Mary too hot to handle and again suffered defeat in the Marygate she should be suited by this sort of test and looks the type to bounce back especially with the yard targeting this race. She has speed to burn so I expect Joe Fanning to push forward and seize the initiative. A few of these could be taken off their feet as a result.
The favourite Spright is undoubtedly the main danger. She did best of the newcomers to finish second at Doncaster and made all to open her account at York 10 days ago. She drops back to the minimum trip here but doesn’t lack speed so should give the selection most to think about.
Goodwood 4.20 Theo Fennell Handicap (Class 3) 7f
20 runners set to line up for this and Richard Hannon is going for a hat-trick of wins after taking the last two renewals. That said his horses in this race are much bigger in the market than the previous winners. I like to find solid handicappers in races like this as it is fiercely competitive and ARIGATO looks just the horse running off the same mark as finishing a good 4th in the Bunbury Cup and has a great draw in 1. If he runs to that same level from this favourable draw he will be bang there.
Society Lion is lightly raced and was well backed in the market at Doncaster last time. He could be the danger if as good as they think he is but a draw of 16 puts me off especially at the prices.
