Goodwood 1.50 Unibet Stewards’ Sprint Handicap (Class 2) 6f

ITV Racing kicks off on Saturday with a competitive handicap sprint. Rewaayat is the favourite and he is chasing a hat-trick of wins but the handicapper has slammed him 12lb for that Salisbury win 3 weeks ago and while he is open to further improvement I do think that makes I’m opposable.

TOMMY G won this under SDS in 2018 and ran a cracker when third last year. He is down to a mark of just 72 now and was back to form chasing home Prompting at Ayr. That horse has since completed a hat-trick winning the Golden Mile here on Friday. He is drawn inside and has plenty of pace around him so hopefully he can secure a good position. Always going to need a bit of luck around here. Dangers include stablemate Call Me Ginger and May Remain who was back in the winners enclosure last time.

Newmarket 2.05 European Bloodstock News British EBF Fillies’ Nursery Handicap (Class 2) 6f

Famille Rose should have more to offer following a couple of good efforts but it’s hard to get away from SHE’S SO NICE for Karl Burke and Ben Curtis. She is a tough filly by Mehmas who improved on her promising debut to dominate the opposition over C&D 23 days ago, always doing enough. She has the right attitude for the job and doesn’t look too badly treated off 82. She will probably push forward again and try to make all.

Basilicata was denied a short head on debut but improved to go one better at Kempton. She wasn’t disgraced under a penalty last time so isn’t completely ignored either.

Newmarket 2.05

She’s So Nice 9/4

Goodwood 2.25 Unibet Summer Handicap (Class 2) 1m6f

A race where the better horses in the race fair best even giving weight away and I fancy LAAFY carrying 9 stone 7 to continue his fantastic form since being gelded. He won nicely on his comeback run at Newbury and his 2nd in the Old Newton Cup looks solid form and a run to that level should be good enough to take this.

Mark Johnston has won 3 of the last 5 runnings of this race so any money for either of his would be worth noting but on paper they don’t seem to be in as good a form as his previous winners.

Goodwood 2.25

Laafy 11/4 EYE CATCHER

Newmarket 2.40 It’s Not Rocket Science At MansionBet Handicap (Class 3) 7f

The Daily Value Tip runs in this race! We have one per day and it’s one of our strongest selections on the card so is not to be missed.

Goodwood 3.00 Qatar Lillie Langtry Stakes (Group 2) (Fillies & Mares) 1m6f

They may be just four runners but this looks a really good race and ENBIHAAR will be looking to defend her crown having ran out an impressive winner of this last year. She looked to need the run behind Dame Malliot at Newmarket and with that under her belt she is expected to prove too strong for these.

Manuela De Vega has impressed the last twice but she did trail the selection some 5 lengths in this last year and has a 3lb penalty so that is enough to put me off. Snow is probably the danger as she improved for the step up in trip to win at Cork and wasn’t disgraced in fifth in the Irish Oaks last time. This test will suit.

Goodwood 3.00

Enbihaar 4/5 MEGA ACCA

Newmarket 3.15 British Stallion Studs EBF Chalice Stakes (Listed Race) (Fillies & Mares) 1m4f

I’m looking forward to seeing KATARA out again for Sir Michael Stoute. I thought she looked very exciting pulling away from the opposition to win by 5 lengths at Kempton last time and she promises to do better back on turf. She travelled notably well before making smooth headway and was quickly in front before readily asserting. She can kick on again now and looks one to keep firmly on side.

Expressionism was only beaten a length at Lingfield in a Listed race on final start last season and remains unexposed so is feared most if fit and ready to go. Bella Vita ran better at Newbury last month and is also entitled to be thereabouts.

Goodwood 3.35 Unibet Stewards’ Cup (Heritage Handicap) 6f

One of the most competitive handicaps of the season and with 28 set to line-up I will be having two fancies in this race. Based on previous results and pace predictions middle-low draws seem preferable. TINTO I am willing to give another chance to with this race set to suit and he is more than capable on his day. His win at Newmarket was very good and ran with credit at Sandown. If running to that level he can outrun his price.

Another one at a big price is ATALANTA’S BOY who has valuable course form and carries such a low weight plus the claimer takes off a further 3lb. He won on return and was 2nd last time out. This is the best race he has run in but could have more to come off a mark of 88. Nahaarr impressed last time out and will be sure to make a mark but would rather have two at a price than the favourite in this, especially drawn in 19.

Newmarket 3.50 Gloriously Simple With MansionBet Further Flight Stakes (Listed Race) 1m6f

Like last year this race attracts just 4 horses and even with so few runners it is hard to get a handle on them with a few questions to be answered. Dubious Affair is the only one who has held her form but has a bit to find on ratings even though she has rattled off a hat-trick.

The tentative vote goes to WITHOLD who is dropping in grade again and may be better for the drop in trip. His form last season would be good enough to take this and with Oisin Murphy onboard he is probably the one to beat. Moonlight Spirit is a good horse but has been so below par this season so far it is hard to know what horse will turn up.

Newmarket 3.50

Withhold 9/4

Goodwood 4.10 Qatar Handicap (Class 2) 7f

Some useful handicappers lining up here but the one that catches the eye is the lightly raced SOCIETY LION for Sir Michael Stoute. This colt by Invincible Spirit was denied just a neck at Doncaster last timed he looks ready to strike despite a 5lb rise. He is strengthening up all the time and I think this sort of test comes at the right time.

Mister Snowdon is a good looking type by Lethal Force and he has quickly made up into a useful individual winning his first two starts before bouncing back from a below par run at Royal Ascot to finish second at Yarmouth on handicap debut only beaten narrowly. Looks the main danger.

Goodwood 4.40 British European Breeders Fund Maiden Stakes (Class 2) 7f

Not much form to go on in this maiden but the time of the race TITAN ROCK ran in on debut looks solid and with natural improvement from that race he will go close.

Titian is favourite for Haggas and Marquand who are in top form this week and won with a 2 year old a few days ago. Has to be respected but short enough in a race like this. Charlie Hills does well in this race and won it with an unraced horse last year so watch the market on Il Bandito.

Goodwood 4.40

Titan Rock 12/1 each way

Goodwood 5.10 LG Signature Apprentice Handicap (Class 3) 1m1f

A tricky finale so I’ve taken two against the field. The first of those and probably my most confident selection is STREAK LIGHTNING for Mark Johnston. He won his first two starts in the style of a very promising young horse but then blew out somewhat at Haydock last time. He can’t have been right so is given another chance.

My second play each way is HATS OFF TO LARRY. He had a wind op and ran a big race when second on return. If he comes on for the run he may well be up to defying a mark of 87 here. At the odds he looks a great each way saver with our original selection. Dangers are obviously a plenty so watch out for Muraad, Overwrite and even City Wanderer at a bigger price.
