Salisbury 1.40 Mildren Construction Wateraid Conditions Stakes (Class 2) 7f
Just four runners head to post for this and I think the market has it more a less spot on. HAPPY POWER should be the answer for Andrew Balding and SDS. This colt by Dark Angel chased home the progressive Space Blues on return at Haydock before finishing second to Limato at Newmarket. He was a bit below par last time but only beaten a length and a half by D’Bai and on those pieces of form should take a lot of beating.
Anna Nerium is probably the one I fear most. She was only fifth at Goodwood but should have tightened up for that run and is very talented so should pose some sort of a challenge as long as it doesn’t become too tactical.
Thirsk 1.55 williamhill.com Best Odds Guaranteed Handicap (Class 3) 5f
All of these lack a win this season apart from the in-form INDIAN SOUNDS. He has won his last two comfortably and is recapturing his old form. He has been put up again for the last win at Bath but a mark of 79 doesn’t look like it will stop him as he has won off marks in the 80s previously and will take all the beating again.
With a decent pace likely to be set by Watchable and Autumn Flight I think Duke Of Firenze will be the main danger coming from a back. Mighty Spirit also has to be respected with Megan Nicholls in the saddle. Heavy defeat at York to overcome though.
Salisbury 2.15 AJN Steelstock/ Pam Bruford Memorial Handicap (Class 2) 5f
I was really impressed with the way TONE THE BARONE swept through last time and while he’ll need more up 6lb I think he is in the form of his life and can follow up. He has actually won 4 of his 5 starts since wind surgery and looks on an upward curve. Hopefully the likes of Konchek and Caspian Prince push forward and make this a test as that will see him in his best light.
Poets Dance caught my eye a while back and got back to winning ways at Yarmouth last month. This is a jump in grade so she needs more but the form was given a boost with Agent Shiftwell winning his next start so he may run well.
Thirsk 2.30 William Hill Extra Places Every Day Handicap (Class 3) 6f
This looks like it will be run at a frenetic pace and with Abate and Muscika being very quick horses that should favour the still improving INTRINSIC BOND. His win at Doncaster was impressive quickening up from the back of the field and he is still lightly raced. He should have plenty more to come and 7lb shouldn’t stop him going close here.
Presidential disappointed a bit last time out but he will also like the pace of this race and with the claimer taking 3lb off he could bounce back at a double figure price and rates the danger. East Street Revue is also worth considering as he was only beaten a length last time.
Salisbury 2.50 AJN Steelstock Steel Processors British EBF Fillies’ Handicap (Class 3) 1m
Roger Varian is flying right now fresh off the back of a four-timer at Ascot yesterday. He saddles the favourite SALAYEL and I can’t see past her to be honest. This filly by Bated Breath ran a monster race in the Silver Royal Hunt Cup when second to Sir Busker and lost little in defeat when third at Pontefract last time. Back in a handicap she can return to winning ways.
One Small Step has been the one supported in the betting for Brian Meehan but I think she needs more off a mark of 84 so I’m happy to oppose and go against the market. Indie Angel is the one I fear most a she looked good winning at Newmarket and was slowly away the last day. Should go well.
Curragh 3.10 Keeneland Phoenix Stakes (Group 1) 6f
What a cracker of a race this is with some top form on offer. We really fancied Steel Bull on his second run and he impressed again. The step up to 6 furlongs shouldn’t be a problem he still has to prove himself over this trip. THE LIR JET was beaten last time in France by the re-opposing Ventura Tormenta who dug deep to hold on. The selection did cruise up and looked to be going better that day, I fancy him to turn the tables in this and add another win to his impressive record (112).
Steel Bull as mentioned could be anything after winning twice with plenty in hand and is the main danger. I can see them both fighting it out to the line hopefully with Qatar Racing’s colt coming out on top.
Salisbury 3.25 AJN Steelstock Sovereign Stakes (Group 3) 1m
Probably the most competitive race of the day on ITV Racing now in the Sovereign Stakes. John Gosden and Oisin Murphy took it last year with Kick On. Neither of them appear in this years renewal. The one I like at the odds is POSITIVE for Clive Cox. This colt has only actually raced six times with two wins to his name. One of those is a defeat of subsequent Guineas winner Kameko at Sandown. He has failed to fire in two runs back finishing down the field behind Palace Pier and then nearer last than first behind Persian King in France. This looks much easier and if the first-time headgear perks him up he could go close.
Motakhayyel won the Buckingham Palace at Royal Ascot before following up in the Bunbury Cup at Newmarket. Obviously feared but this is tougher again so he needs to keep pulling out more if he is to complete the hat-trick. Duke Of Hazzard chased one Space Blues at Goodwood last time and that sort of form gives him a right good chance in this. Definitely feared too!
Curragh 3.40 Rathasker Stud Phoenix Sprint Stakes (Group 3) 6f
It was good to see MILLISLE bounce back last time as she is a classy horse and if in the same vein of form here she should take all the beating at this level. She is a Group 1 winner as a 2 year-old winning the Cheveley Park and seemingly took a while to come to hand this year after starting out in the Guineas. She is the highest rated in the field and she should get the job done.
The main danger has to be 2018 winner of this Speak In Colours who is running really well going for a hat-trick today. Sonaiyla is seeking four wins in a row but will find this much tougher.
ITV Racing Win Treble
Given there are 8 races live on ITV Racing on Sunday we have placed a Win Treble on our three most confident selections of the day.
ITV Racing Each Way Double
Here you can find our Each Way Double for the action live on ITV Racing on Sunday. These are two horses we fancy strongly at decent prices to make a big double.
