Dundalk 4.35 Urban Beat (6/4)

Comfortably top rated here so should be hard to beat if putting his best hoof forward; far from disgraced in a Group 3 at the Curragh last time only beaten a couple of lengths; first-time visor should help; the one to beat.

We head to Dundalk on Friday for our best bet and URBAN BEAT should take care of this bunch. He’s top rated in this field and they’ll have their work cut out to try and beat him I think. He’s run some big races in defeat most notably going down narrowly to Make A Challenge at Navan before running huge when second to Tarboosh at Doncaster. He never really landed a blow up in grade last time but wasn’t beaten far and has a leading chance here on recent form. Back To Brussels is a nice filly and she put in a career best at Cork in testing ground last time so is feared most. At a bigger price Brunelle has won over this C&D and while she failed to fire on return she still has potential going forward.

Likeable type who reached a useful level over hurdles and bettered that at the first attempt over fences when second to Esprit Du Large at Exeter last November; more to come now and could make a winning return.

This is a fascinating clash between COOLANLY and I K Brunel but it’s the former that I fancy and strongly too. He was a decent animal over hurdles and I think he can be an even better chaser in time. He has an enthusiastic way of going and showed plenty of promise when chasing home a smart one on debut over fences at Exeter last November. He did fail to back that up next time at Leicester but given time since he can resume his progression. I K Brunel obviously has plenty of potential himself but he may just need this first spin over the larger obstacles and for my liking is best watched on this occasion. He is a big horse with plenty of scope so may just need it that bit more than the selection.
