THE NAP (BEST BET) RUNS AT NEWBURY ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON AS WE LOOK TO BOUNCE BACK!
Newbury 1.15 Bothwell Bridge (13/8)
Shaped like a promising horse in two bumpers before readily opening his account over hurdles at Warwick on return, jumping fluently before asserting in likeable fashion; open to bundles of improvement and looks the one to beat.
Nicky Henderson does well in this race and he looks to have another potentially smart prospect on his hands in the shape of BOTHWELL BRIDGE. His bumper form has worked out well and he showed an aptitude for hurdles jumping well before winning impressively at Warwick back from a 258-day absence. He is open to stacks of improvement off the back of that and this looks another good stepping stone as he bids to follow up. Bravemansgame is the closest rival in the betting and he is feared most with the longer trip probably suiting. I think the selection has more potential going forward though and he is a strong fancy to come out on top.

Newbury 3.35 Hill Sixteen (5/2)
Romped home to win by a wide margin on debut for this yard; back over hurdles now looking to exploit his lower mark and hard to pick holes in; should be up with the pace and if getting into a rhythm again looks the one to beat.
This looks like a competitive handicap but there could be one that is off a very generous mark and that is HILL SIXTEEN for Nigel Twiston-Davies. He won his first race of the season over fences by 48 lengths and gets to run over hurdles off a mark of 10lb less. That is if he isn’t better than his new chase mark, so if he is in the same form he will take a lot of beating on his second outing for this stable. The danger in his current mood could be Dell’ Arca who might be 11 but looks as good as ever in handicaps reeling off two in-a-row and has talented amateur Fergus Gillard on again to claim 5lb. I expected more from Neville’s Cross last time but if he bounces back he could also get involved.
