THE US NAP (BEST BET) RUNS IN RACE 7 AT SANTA ANITA ON MONDAY NIGHT!

Race 7 Santa Anita 11.40 Mucho Unusual (10/11)

Smart mare who has won two of her last three and impressed at this level last time readily holding rivals at bay close home; Grade 1 winner so should have too much for these; most likely winner.

The NAP has been in great form and we head to Santa Anita on Monday night in search of another winner. MUCHO UNUSUAL is thriving right now and if she runs to the level that saw her win well last time she will be hard to stop. Sedamar is a talented mare too and she looks the biggest danger to the favourite. She was only fourth when last seen though and has work to do to reverse the form with Colonial Creed let alone upset the jolly. If she gets back to her best then she will be the danger but that is quite a big if. Lucky Peridot is probably a bit overpriced as she also brings winning form to the table but again that is at a much lower level than this and she will need to find more to get involved.

Race 8 Golden Gate Fields 12.28 Magical Path (6/4)

Lightly raced filly who has won two of her last four starts and finished runner-up on the two occasions she was beaten; almost certainly has more to offer and could get this run to suit looking to close late.

This looks a straight match to me between MAGICAL PATH and Surface. The latter has won her last two but had to dig deep to prevail last time and is coming up against another improving horse in the shape of the favourite. I can see this being run at a good clip and that should play into the selections hands in the closing stages. Holy Zags won by 3 lengths on her first start on this surface last time and while this is much tougher she may well end up best of the rest so does look a bit of value to potentially run into a place if one of the principals disappoint. Nina En Fuego opened her account here on penultimate start but was found out last time and comes here with a bit to prove now.
