Wednesday’s Best Bets
NAP FOUR-TIMER ON WEDNESDAY? The DD landed yesterday, it’s good to be back among the winners. Racing from Southwell, Ludlow, Doncaster and Kempton.
Scroll down to find our most confident selections (NAP & NB) PLUS race-by-race picks for every race across all FOUR meetings.
NAP – Best selection of the evening
THE NAP (BEST BET) WON AGAIN YESTERDAY SO WE’RE NOW ON A FOUR-TIMER!
Doncaster 2.55 Patroclus (6/5)
Expensive purchase after finishing second in an Irish point; promise amidst greenness on debut over hurdles when second at Warwick; quickly went one better at Exeter showing a really good attitude under pressure; form worked out well since.
The NAP is chasing FOUR IN A ROW on Wednesday and I’m confident PATROCLUS is the one to beat at Doncaster. This horse found plenty for pressure to get back up at Exeter. I know the second Astigar was pulled up on his next start but I still think he has plenty of potential that horse and that definitely wasn’t his true running. The third Fletch has won well since and the fifth Taste The Fear again shaped well on his next start so I think it has substance. He is open to improvement and this looks another winnable contest. Jeremy Pass beat Sizable Sam at Wincanton which was an impressive run but was pulled up last time so has a few questions to answer now.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) ALSO WON YESTERDAY AND RUNS AT LUDLOW!
Ludlow 3.40 Ballycross (2/1)
Promising effort when third to an exciting prospect in Time To Get Up at Wincanton earlier this month; not getting any younger and needs to jump fluently but should go close on that recent form and main rival hiked up 11lb.
I know BALLYCROSS is a 10yo now and he isn’t the most trustworthy of individuals but there was nothing wrong with his third last time and if he builds on that he is a near certainty to go close. That looked a much stronger race than this so it’s no surprise to see him prominent in the market. I think he’s a much better bet than nearest market rival Volcano. The latter has been slammed with an 11lb rise and I’ll be surprised if he gets competitive despite his good recent form. Arthur’s Gift is actually the one I fear most as while he’s been below par this season we know he’s better than that and he is becoming well treated. I’ll be keeping a close eye on the market.
Daily Double
The Daily Double consists of both the NAP and NB and is a great way of covering our two best bets of the day to maximise profit. They run at Doncaster and Ludlow on Wednesday afternoon.
