THE NAP (BEST BET) WON AGAIN YESTERDAY AND IS NOW CHASING A HAT-TRICK!
Huntingdon 4.40 Midnight Aurora (6/5)
Useful mare who had been badly out of sorts before hinting at a revival at Musselburgh on New Year’s Day; didn’t go unbacked when back to something like her best at Plumpton; hard to oppose under a penalty.
A 7lb penalty shouldn’t be enough to stop MIDNIGHT AURORA following up for Dan and Harry Skelton. The money came for her at Plumpton and she made no mistake running on well to win by 12 widening lengths. She remains fairly treated on her old form and looks well placed to go in again. She won’t be much of a price but that’s with good reason. The 11yo Galactic Power could run well as his second to Mr Washington was a really likeable effort. He is some 20lb below his last winning mark so in terms of a place he might be a bit of value. Here’s Bingo is still a maiden but is another one who shouldn’t be far away. A lot of runners but not much strength in depth which makes the selection a standout.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) RUNS AT SEDGEFIELD ON SUNDAY AFTERNOON!
Sedgefield 3.25 Mr Muldoon (11/8)
Won in the style of a progressive horse here in October before finding the step up in trip a bit too much at Ascot last time; remains open to further improvement and will be suited by the drop back in distance here; big shout.
Back down in trip it’s hard to go against MR MULDOON for Dr Richard Newland. This horse looked to be firmly on the upgrade prior to that latest run and back here he has a major chance of resuming his progression. I much prefer him to Flowery who also likes it here but has enough to prove following that Warwick run. I do expect the pair to battle it out but the favourite is readily preferred. Raecius Felix won here in October but is too hit and miss to back with any confidence and has his work cutout again you’d imagine. Similar comments apply to The Paddy Pie who was disappointing last time but did reportedly lose a shoe so might run better this afternoon.
