NAP – Best selection of the evening
THE NAP (BEST BET) RUNS OVER JUMPS AT CHEPSTOW ON SUNDAY AFTERNOON!
Chepstow 3.40 Le Cameleon (11/8)
Did well over hurdles and opened his account over fences in convincing style over C&D in January, jumping well; took a heavy fall at Wincanton in testing ground last time; the one to beat if none the worse as should have more to offer.
It’s never ideal backing a horse that has fallen last time but I’ll be very surprised if there isn’t more to come from LE CAMELEON who won impressively over track and trip in January. If he is back to that sort of form he’ll prove tough to beat here. I did think Stratagem was overpriced in the market when I first looked at 8/1 but that looks to have corrected itself now. I think with a clear round he’s the biggest danger as that Sandown run can be excused. Zambezi Fix is quite short in the betting but he wouldn’t be the most convincing over a fence for me. He did chase home the selection so shouldn’t be all that far away but he has to do better to turn around that form and I can’t really see it.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) RUNS OVER JUMPS AT CARLISLE ON SUNDAY!
Carlisle 1.50 The Mighty Arc (6/4)
Well bred sort who needed the experience on debut in a bumper at Chepstow in November last year; showed promise on hurdles debut when third to Grumpy Charley and with improvement to come should take a bit of beating.
Grumpy Charley was deemed good enough to run in the Supreme behind Appreciate It so the fact THE MIGHTY ARC finished third to him on hurdles debut at Chepstow is a strong piece of form in the context of this race. He travelled well for a long way in that race before just keeping on. He should know a lot more now and I’m expecting him to be much sharper. Seven No Trumps is likely to be popular given connections but neither effort at Ludlow or Wincanton did enough for me to make him a short price here so I’m keen to oppose. Brayhill disappointed at Wetherby and will need to take a big step forward to figure here. Khamsin Moor didn’t find much off the bridle at Kelso and looked slow latest.
