Newcastle 7.15 Air To Air (13/8)
Toronado colt who gradually got the hang of things last term running his best race to date when beaten less than a length at Redcar up to this trip for the first time; 8lb higher now but sure to improve and this looks a good opportunity.
The Flat season really isn’t far away now and we’re starting to see some nice types reappear. AIR TO AIR was last seen running well when second at Redcar in September and with further improvement a near certainty he looks a good bet to open his account at the fourth time of asking. Inexperience just looked to get the better of him the last day and I expect him to be much wiser now having been given time since. Royal Advice recorded a career best to win on return here last month and like the selection can also keep improving so looks the danger. Balearic has been blinkered and needs to improve to have a say. Grantley might be overpriced in terms of a place as the cheekpieces should help.

Dundalk 4.25 Kendred Soul (2/1)
Good looking filly who has done well since switching hands to this stable, finishing a promising third over C&D before improving to win over 6f and go close again last time; latest run looks good form and back up a furlong a big plus.
It’s no surprise to see KENDRED SOUL popular here as she has been in great form since changing yards. She has arguably produced two of her best efforts the last twice and with the step back up to 7f sure to suit I think she’s the one to beat again here. The form of that last run even in defeat looks notably solid so I think she ticks plenty of boxes off a 2lb higher mark. Big Challenge is lightly raced for his age but was below par when last seen and even with the switch of yards he needs to show more before he becomes of interest for me. Sunset Nova might be the danger but he does need things to drop perfectly to be seen to best effect. At a bigger price Kuwait Direction could run well.
