THE NAP (BEST BET) RUNS OVER JUMPS AT SOUTHWELL ON TUESDAY AFTERNOON!
Southwell 2.00 First Class Return (6/5)
Ran well following a wind op when second at Ayr with the winner going on to complete a hat-trick; relished the step up to 3 miles over C&D last month and followed up easily last time; up 9lb again but not done yet so big chance.
The hat-trick seeking FIRST CLASS RETURN is hard to get away from at Southwell on Tuesday. He just idled a bit in front last time but looked to be saving plenty for himself and still went on to win by 12 lengths. He bumped into Storm Nelso at Ayr and that rival won by 11 lengths off a mark of 117 at the start of the month so I think the selection could still have more to offer despite a 9lb rise. It’s not going to be easy with the likes of As You Like, Manwell and Antony all having solid claims but I can just see him pulling out more when it matters. I’d probably say As you Like was the danger of those with the drying ground in his favour but he isn’t the most willing of partner in a finish.

Newcastle 5.30 Imajorblush (15/8)
Good looking sort who showed plenty on more than one occasion last term; really encouraging effort on return denied just a neck; 3lb claimer booked and everything suggests he is going to go close.
Having bumped into a well handicapped rival in Devizes last time IMAJORBLUSH looks well placed to go one better. That horse has chased home French Minstrel on his next start before winning at Lingfield at the weekend so the form looks strong. The selection has Billy Garritty booked for the ride and he claims a handy 3lb which makes life easier. I think if he runs his race it’s going to take a big performance to beat him. Selsey Sizzler is well bred being by Nathaniel and could go well back down in trip. Probably the main danger given the yard are making the long trip over. Barney Bullet was a good second when last seen but might need it. Cheese And Wine could go well so is also respected.
