THE NAP (BEST BET) RUNS OVER JUMPS AT FONTWELL ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON!
Fontwell 2.25 Nye Bevan (11/4)
Narrowly failed to get up when denied a neck at Plumpton and improved on that to push a subsequent winner close at Newcastle last time; either of those runs good enough to see him open his account; drying ground also a plus.
This looks an obvious opportunity for the consistent NYE BEVAN to finally open his account. His recent form is hard to fault and if he runs up to that sort of level again he will have these covered. I was quite surprised to see him open at 11/4 as that looks too big given the quality of the opposition. The money is already coming for him! The horse he finished second to last time Peltwell went on to complete a four-timer at Hexham. The selection will enjoy this quicker surface and I don’t think there are many chinks in his armour today. Ballydoyle was a useful type on the Flat but he was beaten over 14 lengths at Plumpton and he has enough to find even down 3lb to pose a challenge to the fav.

Ayr 3.50 Defining Battle (3/1)
Couldn’t have ran much better without winning when runner-up at Taunton last month; the winner looks a smart prospect and has since finished an excellent second in a red-hot handicap at Aintree; should go one better.
I’m looking forward to seeing DEFINING BATTLE at Ayr on Friday. This horse looked the winner before getting edged out late at Taunton last month and given his size and scope for improvement I think he’ll step forward again here. If he does all the others will be playing catch-up. A mark of 122 looks well within reach and I’ll be surprised if he’s beaten to be honest. 3/1 looks huge as I was expecting him to open around 2’s before going off more of a 6/4 chance so we’ll see what the market makes of him. Fete Champetre opened his account over hurdles at Wetherby at the start of the month and while the form doesn’t look up to much that was quite impressive so he looks the most obvious danger.
Daily Double
The Daily Double consists of both the NAP and NB and is a great way of covering our two best bets of the day to maximise profit. They run at Fontwell and Ayr on Friday afternoon.
