Newmarket 2.05 John Leeper (6/4)
Frankel colt who is out of multiple Group 1 winner Snow Fairy; left debut run well behind winning impressively at Newcastle last month; clock backed up that visual impression and sure to improve up in trip; holds a Derby entry.
I’m really looking forward to seeing JOHN LEEPER out again after winning head in chest at Newcastle when last seen. He made a very impressive return storming clear in the closing stages and he clocked a decent time in the process. With improvement a near certainty he can make it 2 from 3 here before going on to better things. He is a 16/1 chance for The Derby next month and I wouldn’t put you off backing him each way at that price. If he wins this impressively as I hope then he will be a lot shorter. Fancy Man has reached a decent level of form and looks a solid yardstick. The drop back in trip should suit him and he is the most likely danger but I’ll be disappointed if he manages to beat the selection.

Newbury 1.50 Tactical (2/1)
Toronado colt who recorded some strong form as a 2yo winning Windsor Castle and a Group 2 at Newmarket before finishing down the field in the Dewhurst; impressed making a winning return and looks the one to beat here.
The market has this between the front pair and I think it’s hard to get away from TACTICAL following that convincing win on return at Newmarket. The drop back to 6f certainly isn’t an issue given he won the Windsor Castle as a 2yo and with the promise of better to come he looks set to justify favouritism. Creative Force is on a hat-trick so has to be feared as the main danger. He has enough to find with the selection though and will need another step up to win this. Happy Romance is likeable but has been running predominantly against her own sex so she has a bit to find back on turf. Hopefully Oisin will ride the selection like the best horse as if he does I think he’ll win.
