Race 7 Belmont Park 8.18 Shedaresthedevil (6/5)

Smart filly who is a perfect 2-2 this term having won the Azeri at Oaklawn and then had no problem back up to this level in the La Troienne at Churchill Downs latest; more to come so hat-trick beckons; hard to oppose.

2020 Kentucky Oaks winner SHEDARESTHEDEVIL can bring up the hat-trick at Belmont tonight! She had Letruska held in second on return and backed that up with a likeable performance in a Grade 1 last time. If she runs to that sort of level again she is going to be extremely hard to beat tonight. Letruska herself has won 3 from her last 4 so she has to be feared most. I think the selection will confirm the form though. Swiss Skydiver obviously would have been a player but has been scratched from the race now along with Valiance. Bonny South is a stablemate to the selection and she showed a good attitude to win last time but that was a Grade 3 so she needs much more to take this out.

Failed to shine in the Saudi Cup but prior to that he had looked most progressive winning the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile and Pegasus World Cup; has to concede weight here but with good reason and should be too classy for these.

I’m struggling to look past KNICKS GO here and I think he’ll burn them all off from the front. Put a line through his Saudi Cup run and he’d be long odds-on to take this. He was so impressive in the Pegasus World Cup and if he returns to that sort of form then quite simply he’ll win this. Mischevious Alex has won his last 3 and has to be respected. Beat some good horses last time so looks the biggest danger to the selection for me. Dr Post is also talented and has a bright future but this is really tough and I can see him running creditably in defeat before going on to win some big races in time. Silver State is chasing a remarkable 6-timer so can’t be entirely ruled out either.
