THE NAP (BEST BET) RUNS AT GLORIOUS GOODWOOD ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON!
Glorious Goodwood 3.05 Wonderful Tonight (4/5)
Likeable, progressive filly who ran out a convincing winner of the Hardwicke on return last month; carries a penalty here but looks a cut above these and any further rain only enhances her chances here; hard to oppose.
The Lillie Langtry is usually a good race but with WONDERFUL TONIGHT lining up it looks even better than usual. The ground looks as though it won’t be too quick for her and she has to be the one to beat. She won her last 3 at this level or better and after an impressive Hardwicke Stakes win at Royal Ascot on seasonal debut she will be much better for that run. Even with a penalty she is the best on ratings and will take a lot of beating. The only issue is her price but she can’t be opposed. Albaflora looks to be the main danger and does get an extra 3lb off the selection last time but she has 6 lengths to find from the Hardwicke Stakes and she may have to settle for second again.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) RUNS OVER AT NEWMARKET ON SATURDAY!
Newmarket 4.30 Ranchero (5/4)
Promising colt who went down just a length on debut and then bumped into one at Newcastle; improved for the switch to turf when making all at Nottingham and mark looks perfectly manageable for his handicap debut.
There should be plenty more to come from RANCHERO yet so he is taken to follow up that Nottingham success on handicap debut. The horse he beat Kolisi has since followed up at Salisbury to give the form some substance so an opening mark of just 80 is expected to be well within reach. Anythingtoday hasn’t won for a while now but has switched yards to George Boughey so could run well. Needs to do better to trouble the favourite though. Bonnyrigg was expected to do better at Sandown but ran a bit flat. If he bounces back he could go well but this looks tough up against a potentially well handicapped colt. Eevilynn Drew has been nibbled at but also needs to find a bit more to go close.
