Yarmouth 5.15 Bazuka Handicap (Class 6) (3YO plus) 6f

I know she only prevailed by a short head in the end but I was quite impressed by LITTLE SUNFLOWER over 7f here last month and turned out fairly quickly under a 6lb penalty I think she’s found the right race to follow up. Laura Pearson is in the saddle again and she is riding really well at the moment. I can see her being positive again and if she gets into a good rhythm on the lead she will be hard to peg back down in trip. 6/1 looks a knocking each way bet.

Irish Times was back to winning ways at Chelmsford last time but needs to back that up back on turf. I think he’s opposable on all known form and he doesn’t usually back up a win. Knockabout Queen is down to a handy mark again and has run well the last twice so she would be my idea of the main danger.

Yarmouth 5.45 Diomed EBF Maiden Fillies’ Stakes (GBB Race) (Class 5) (2YO only) 6f

Just the 3 runners in the field with form in the book with the other 5 all on their debuts. PRINCESS SHABNAM has impressed on both of her runs and improved on her debut run to run Frankella close at Newmarket. That was a very good maiden and if she shows natural improvement she has to be the one to beat unless these newcomers are particularly good.

Red Joan ran against the selection at Newmarket and is the most dangerous of the runners with form but will have to improve a fair bit to beat her. Of the newcomers you have to always take note of Archie Watson’s 2 year-olds on debut and with Ryan Moore booked Aunt Bethany has to be watched in the market and she could be a danger to them all.

Yarmouth 5.45

Princess Shabnam 11/4

Yarmouth 6.15 Freederm Handicap (Class 6) (3YO plus) 1m2f

Aradena improved to finish second to a nice enough filly at Bath last month but I think she needs more to win this and there isn’t much juice in her price. MAHANAKHON POWER on the other hand already has the form in the book and he beat a good horse in Flying Standard (runs in the next race on the card) here in June. He wasn’t disgraced next time and was only beaten 3 lengths last time at Nottingham. The first-time blinkers could see him improve again and he is a decent price in a winnable race.

Smokey Malone is very consistent but he was expected to do better at Brighton after winning at Nottingham and went close here last time but doesn’t look screaming out to me like he is handicapped to win again. I think he needs more on the balance of form. Mystic Dragon is a maiden but she has posted some good figures so might emerge as the danger.

Yarmouth 6.45 4Head Handicap (Class 6) (3YO plus) 1m6f

This looks another weak event and I think FLYING STANDARD is the one to beat. He just lost out over this trip at Nottingham last time and unlike most of the field he has been running consistently well. He seems at his best on turf and with just 2lb extra to carry here he will go very well. Hopefully Mahanakhon Power enhances his claims in the race before.

The main danger looks to be Pax Britannica who has actually beaten the selection before but she is much worse off at the weights today. She isn’t the most consistent so that is why I didn’t trust her as the selection but entitled to go well. Of the rest Hidden Pearl could be the one to make up the top 3 after running behind the selection last time.

Yarmouth 6.45

Flying Standard 10/3

Yarmouth 7.15 Aeropak Fillies’ Handicap (Class 4) (3YO plus) 1m

Sweet Enough is likely to be popular here following her Newmarket win but the clock didn’t really back that up and this is tougher so at a short price I think she might be opposable. She is obviously the least exposed of these so could take another step forward but I just think at the odds I’m happy to look elsewhere. APRICOT MOON is the one that catches the eye for George Boughey. This Bated Breath filly wasn’t beaten far last time even though she was out the back. If she can build on that again off a 3lb lower mark I think she can get competitive at a double-figure price.

Both Elvrika and Daphne May aren’t out of this either and it’s more open than the betting is suggesting. The latter was back to form winning at Windsor last time and is unexposed over this trip so could find some further improvement. Elvrika was disappointing last time but if she bounces back that would give her a chance too.

Yarmouth 7.45 Ibuleve Fillies’ Handicap (Class 5) (3YO plus) 7f

This looks to be between the two last time out winners with FLIBBERTIGIBBET edging it for me. They seemed to find a lot of improvement over course and distance last time and that looks to be down to the better ground she had that day (good to firm). She is likely to have good ground or better here which should see her go very well even with the 4lb penalty.

Cheshire Plain is the favourite at the time of writing after a good win over this trip at Lingfield and was clearly on a good mark on handicap debut. That race didn’t look the best level of form but she could still be on a good mark which makes her the main danger.

Yarmouth 7.45

Flibbertigibbet 10/3

Yarmouth 8.15 Your Mortgage Solutions 20th Anniversary Handicap (Class 5) (3YO plus) 5f

Last time out winner Haveoneyerself and EXPERT OPINION look set to fight out the lucky last. I’m keen to side with the latter as he has won 2 of his last 4 now and that was a career best last month. He finds plenty for pressure and I can see him pulling out more in the run to the line here. There is plenty of pace on so it will be interesting to see who leads as that could change the dynamic of the race.

Haveoneyerself is on a hat-trick and also clocked a career best at Salisbury last time despite missing the break. Dark Side Prince is also in great form and shouldn’t be entirely ruled out in a decent race for the grade.
