Doncaster 5.42 William Hill Build Your Odds Racing League Race Seven (Handicap) (Class 3) (3YO plus) 5f

A competitive handicap to kick-off the second week of the Racing League and I think SAAHEQ could be overpriced. He went close in a good race at Sandown 2 weeks ago and has been dropped 1lb for this race. He has won over course and distance previously and is now down to his last winning mark (80). He should run a big race at a decent each way price.

The main danger is Ballintoy Harbour who won at Newmarket last time out and is handicapped to go well again. The other one at a good price is Copper Knight who rarely runs a bad race over this trip on turf. Celsius has been the early market mover and is also worth paying close attention to.

Doncaster 5.42

Saaheq 16/1 each way

Doncaster 6.13 William Hill Extra Place Races Racing League Race Eight (Handicap) (Class 3) (3YO plus) 6f

It’s probably an understatement saying any of about 4 or 5 could win this. Comfortably one of the most competitive handicaps I’ve seen for a while so no surprise I’ve opted for two against the field. My main hope has to be NIGHT OF ROMANCE for Joseph O’Brien. This filly won her last two for Karl Burke before changing hands. The form of that last win is very strong and up just 3lb she has to have a major shout in an open race.

At a bigger price I thought TANFANTIC was worth including too. This son of Gutaifan shaped much better when fifth at York last time where he was only actually beaten 2 and a half lengths. This drop back in trip looks the right move and after just 8 starts he might not be one to write off completely just yet. Ivatheengine and Stone Circle were the other two that caught my eye so I’ll put them forward as dangers.

This handicap doesn’t look as competitive as the rest on the card and I think DILAWARA is the one to beat. She ran a cracker in a hot handicap at the Curragh on seasonal debut in June to finish just under 2 lengths behind the winner. Joseph O’Brien’s horses usually improve for the first run of the season and if she does she will be hard to beat as a run to the level of her first run would see her go close.

Typhoon Ten could well be the main danger at a big price as I think he will be better on this slightly slower surface than he has been racing on recently. Of the rest Blackheath is the one I fancy to fill the placings as he seems to be at his best over this trip as we saw at Leicester last time.

Doncaster 6.48

Dilawara 4/1 each way

Doncaster 7.20 William Hill Play Responsibly Racing League Race Ten (Handicap) (Str) (Class 3) (3YO plus) 1m

I’ve been waiting to see VALUE TIP run again after losing a shoe out the starting stall at Royal Ascot. He still ran a creditable race in defeat but Jamie Spencer admitted he never really travelled with any enthusiasm. If back on song here he is going to run huge and 5/1 was way too big (already shortening). He is open to further improvement and is versatile regarding the ground so lots to like. There is enough pace around him to be seen to best effect so he has a major shout.

Serenading ran well when second at Newbury last month and looks one of the dangers off the back of that. Adelisa is unexposed and drops back in trip for handicap debut so is another one who could give the selection a race. Sugauli has been nibbled at but he is up 6lb for that Newbury win and this looks tougher so he’ll need another forward step to follow up.

Doncaster 7.53 William Hill Pick Your Places Racing League Race Eleven (Handicap) (Class 3) (3YO plus) 1m2f

It is hard to rule any of these out with any real confidence so SARVAN gets a tentative vote. He ran very well in his last two runs over this trip and off the same mark he is a huge player here. If he runs to the level of form he did at Windsor when finishing second by a neck he will go very close in this field.

The main danger is Corbulo who won last time out at Chelmsford after putting together a few good runs over this trip. He has only been raised 2lb so is more than capable of running well here. Others to note would be HMS President and Russian Virtue as both are running well.

Doncaster 7.53

Sarvan 5/1 each way

Doncaster 8.25 William Hill Double Your Odds Racing League Race Twelve (Handicap) (Class 3) (3YO plus) 1m4f

A tricky handicap to close out night two of the Racing League and Moon Daisy is the one they’re coming for at the time of writing. This filly by Australia has improved for the fitting of headgear the last twice and she looks on a fair mark on those two efforts. She often finds a way to get beat though so I wouldn’t want to be taking a short price. AMIR KABIR is the one I’m chancing for Roger Charlton. He has been a bit expensive to follow (well for me anyway) but I know he is capable of a big run when things drop right and this test should suit. He’s been largely overlooked in the betting and I think he is a cracking each way play.

Plenty of dangers probably headed by Currency Exchange. He has plenty of ability but doesn’t always channel it in the right direction so if things do click he could prove a cut above most of these. Cadeau D’Or has been in my tracker a while but he is opposable on overall form and I won’t be backing him until he shows me a bit more.
