NAP – Best selection of the evening
THE NAP (BEST BET) RUNS OVER AT YARMOUTH ON THURSDAY AFTERNOON!
Yarmouth 2.40 Dig Two (1/1)
Promising colt who landed back-to-back wins prior to finishing an excellent second in the Windsor Castle; ran a bit flat in the July Stakes at Newmarket but this obviously much easier and sets a clear standard; should win.
It’s hard to pick holes in DIG TWO here and he should be up to justifying favouritism for Hugo Palmer. The yard are in great form and this colt by Cotai Glory still possesses plenty of potential. He looked thoroughly progressive winning at Newmarket and then following up at Chelmsford and did little wrong when an excellent second to Chipotle in the Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot last month. He failed to fire in the July Stakes at Newmarket when last seen but that was fiercely competitive and I’m happy to put a line through that as he went too hard early. This is much easier and he should be able to boss these. No Nay Never debutant Rizg may well emerge as the danger but this is a stiff enough task first up.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) RUNS AT REDCAR ON THURSDAY AFTERNOON!
Redcar 3.20 Aquaman (5/4)
Improved to beat a good colt on return at Catterick and held his form well since bumping into a progressive horse at York and then only grabbed in the final strides at Newmarket last time; leading claims in this company.
We head to Redcar on Thursday afternoon for our second best bet and AQUAMAN looks the one to beat for Roger Varian. He has some strong form in the book and looked a bit unlucky to be reeled in late last time. He is the most unexposed of these and with potential to do better can get himself back in the winners enclosure this afternoon. It will probably be at the main expense of Coase. The latter is actually third in the betting but Scottish Summit lacks a gear change so I think this son of Zoffany will chase home the fav. He is lightly raced over this trip so could have a bigger performance in him. Thunder Of Niagara found zilch off the bridle last time but could go better here if bouncing back.
