THE NAP (BEST BET) RUNS OVER AT NEWBURY ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON!
Newbury 2.20 Hukum (1/1)
Smart colt who put rivals to the sword staying on strongly to win this last year; excellent effort in the Hardwicke before back to winning ways at York last month; class angle in here and can defy a penalty and win this again.
It’s good to see HUKUM back here again this year to try and retain his crown after a fairly comfortable win in this race last year. He does carry a penalty but is rated at least 8lb better than anything in this field so it shouldn’t be too much of a hindrance. He was last seen winning well at York in a Group 3. That was after he was slightly outclassed in the Hardwicke but the form has worked out well. If he runs to the level of either of those runs he will win this. I don’t think the opposition are that strong but if one was going to give him something to do it would be Recovery Run who gets the 3 year old allowance. He had excuses at Goodwood so will likely be better here but does have stamina to prove.

Ripon 4.50 Myristica (2/1)
Big strong filly who took a bit of time to confirm the promise of her Nottingham win but did impress over C&D 12 days ago, drawing clear close home; 7lb rise but capable of better yet especially if getting a toe in again.
I can see MYRISTICA being ridden handily again as she doesn’t do anything quickly but this track and trip clearly suits her well and I’m more concerned about how the race will pan out than I am the 7lb rise as I think she is still ahead of her mark. She should get a toe in and if she does I think she’ll grind this out in the closing stages. She certainly has the size and scope to keep progressing and I much prefer her to Ms Gandhi and Lasting Legacy. The latter did impress last time but she is bumping into a real tough sort here in the selection. Ms Gandhi is the likely pace angle and should help set it up for the favourite. Life On The Rocks is lightly raced and can do better so is worth a second look.
Daily Double
The Daily Double consists of both the NAP and NB and is a great way of covering our two best bets of the day to maximise profit. They run at Newbury and Ripon on Saturday.
