NAP – Best selection of the evening
THE NAP (BEST BET) WON YESTERDAY AND RUNS AT BRIGHTON ON SUNDAY!
Brighton 3.50 Goddess Of Fire (9/4)
Toronado filly who has been running well for a while and bumped into a good yardstick at Newmarket last time; this easier and she deserves to get her head back in front now so looks the one to beat; big chance.
The NAP was back in the winners enclosure at York yesterday as Space Blues quickened up smartly to win well. He is a serious 7f specialist and is very talented on his day. Not the same level of racing on Sunday but even still we have a confident selection running over at Brighton. GODDESS OF FIRE has been knocking on the door for a while and I think this looks a cracking opportunity for her to get her head back in front. She was third to Sweet Enough at Yarmouth in a race that has worked out well and built on that to push Grey Fox close at Newmarket last time. On recent form she really is hard to oppose. De Vegas Kid goes particularly well over this C&D so looks the danger to the selection.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) RUNS OVER IN IRELAND AT NAAS ON SUNDAY!
Naas 2.00 Thunder Eclipse (3/1)
Good looking colt who was gradually improving knocking on the door at both the Curragh and Listowel before another good run at Limerick in June; disappointing at Fairyhouse last time but this very winnable; sure to go close.
I know this isn’t a great race but that makes THUNDER ECLIPSE a really strong play for me. This Holy Roman Emperor colt would be long odds-on for this if you took away that last run. Perhaps he just didn’t handle the faster surface as he didn’t really look to be striding out that well late. He likely did too much early but even still it was disappointing. If you put a line through that he would have an obvious chance of belatedly getting his head in front. Gaire Os Are is favourite but she has hardly been convincing and I think she might be vulnerable. I do think the market principals will fight it out but Thunder Eclipse is much preferred. Of the rest Doitforandrew will be fitter now so should finish third.
