Kempton 5.55

Tough race to start the night at Kempton but I think I’m willing to take a chance on TOLLARD ROYAL on debut for George Boughey. This Ribchester colt cost £28,000 as a yearling and is a half-sister to Sir Roderic and Comfort Line, both nice types. He holds a Royal Lodge entry and I can see him running a big race first up. As always the market is likely to be informative and any movers should be noted.

Peak Perfect shaped with promise when third on debut and looks best of those that have had a run. Mastercraftsman colt Berkshire Breeze is also well related and could have a say on debut for Andrew Balding.

This doesn’t look like a deep race at all and GOLDEN CLAIM has a great chance to win at Kempton again. Ismail Mohammed’s gelding has already won over course and distance this season and was under a length away two weeks ago. He runs off the same mark here and in a weak race he is the one to beat.

Solomons Judgement has won a couple of weaker races than this but is only up a pound for his latest success at Yarmouth which makes him the danger in the field. Golden Claim has him on form and speed figures so he would need to improve to beat the selection.

Kempton 6.55

This looks a winnable race so I don’t think a 6lb rise will be enough to stop THUNDERCLAP following up. He ran out a convincing winner over C&D last time and looked to relish the drop back down to a mile. He remains unexposed and with further improvement to come can win again.

The first-time cheekpieces need to help Across The Nile step forward and if they do she could emerge as the threat to the favourite. Ventura Vision has been a bit frustrating but she is another one that could run well if putting her best hoof forward.

Kempton 7.25

There are some promising types lining up here but perhaps none more so than VALUE TIP who looked a work in progress finishing an encouraging third on debut at Haydock last month. This Dark Angel colt was beaten just a length at the line and the form has been franked since with the winner Nine Tales following up and the fourth King’s Commander also winning his next start. He looks sure to improve for the experience and if he does he will be a threat to all here and has been a bit underestimated in the market to me at 9/2.

Hit The Heights clocked a decent time winning on debut at Lingfield but hasn’t been since and this won’t be easy under a penalty. Thunder Power also showed ability finishing fourth on debut and has been gelded since so he is also feared in what looks a good race on paper. Lord Lovelace is the most interesting of the newcomers but he is likely to do better for the run.

I’ve been a fan of Maxine but she is hard to back given how poorly she ran last time. I know it’s likely something was amiss but even still she is too short to part with your hard earned in a race as competitive as this. I prefer SPRING GLOW for Andrew Balding. This Mukhadram filly finished last at Wolverhampton but was only beaten 3 and a quarter lengths and has been dropped a couple of pounds. She ran well on her only start at this track when beaten 2 lengths into third and I think a big run beckons.

Summertime Romance can do better now handicapping and has shown ability so looks one of the main dangers if improving. Special Directory was a good third at Newcastle and if she steps forward again she is also worth plenty of respect.

Kempton 8.30

Smaller field than expected for this £14,000 pot but it doesn’t lack quality. IRISH LEGEND has been running some very good races notably at Goodwood and Ascot. I personally think he might be at his best on the all-weather and a mark of 91 looks fair in this field. He won his last two on the all-weather and in an easier race I expect him to go very well.

Zikany is favourite at the time of writing, he has been running in slightly easier events, just falling short. He is up another pound for his second at Salisbury and whilst I think he is the main danger I just don’t know how well handicapped he is and knowing the quality of the selection I just can’t have him favourite over him.

Kempton 8.30

Irish Legend 10/3

Kempton 9.00

Tricky nightcap with any of 3 or 4 that could win this. I’ve come down on NURSE FLORENCE for Jamie Osborne. This Gutaifan filly has been running to a consistent level and she deserves to get her head back in front. She is just 2lb above her last winning mark and if she gets a decent target to aim at she could come out on top here. She will be held up so needs that luck in-running but at 5/1 she looks worth chancing.

Ray Day is a filly by Adaay making her handicap debut so she is going to attract market support. Marquand gets the leg up now and she could be a big danger. Persaria has been a bit disappointing recently but her previous efforts were promising and this is winnable so she also enters calculations.

Nurse Florence 5/1
