Doncaster 1.10

Appleby and Buick team-up with the fav Bay Of Honour and any horse in them silks is immediately entitled to plenty of respect on debut. I do think he looks a bit short though and I’m going to oppose. The one I like is Kingman colt KINGDOM COME for Clive Cox. He cost £500,000 and is a half-brother to the talented Miss Yoda. He travelled quite well into it on debut at Newbury but was clueless when asked to race and just ran green under Adam Kirby. He should know a lot more now and if he improves enough he could be a big player here with that experience under his belt.

Bay Of Honour obviously has to be respected given connections and their record with 2yo debutants. Leuven Power has more experience than most and he did look to be getting the hang of things late last time so with more to come he could be one of the main protagonists. Tack is a half-brother to Tactical and is also worth a second look first-up.

Hoo Ya Mal did impress at York and clocked a good time in the process but I do think he was fully tuned up for that run and this might be a bit of an afterthought given how impressive he was there. He is feared but I’m going to chance the untapped potential of RIBHI for Marcus Tregoning. He won in the style of an exciting horse at Salisbury and the step up to 7f should unlock further improvement and I think he is a major player here. He could win this before going on to much better things in time.

Razzle Dazzle got the job done at Newmarket but this is tougher and I’m not sure he is good enough. Noble Truth went into my notes winning at Newmarket before running a bit flat in the Acomb. He still has potential and might emerge as the danger.

Doncaster 1.40

Ribhi 5/1 each way

Doncaster 2.10

Back down to 5f I think we’ll see the best of ARMOR here. He was only beaten a couple of lengths in Group 1 company in France last month and this is much easier in comparison. His win at Goodwood was impressive and he sets a clear form standard here. With the promise of more to come he is taken to come out on top.

The Organiser won impressively at York on debut and has shaped well since better than the bare result in the Coventry and July Stakes before beaten just a head at Salisbury. He looks the most obvious danger to the selection but will need to improve and I’m not sure he is crying out for a drop back to the minimum. Chipotle has a squeak but needs to bounce back.

Doncaster 2.40

All eyes will be on Stradivarius with Trueshan now out but he had to dig really deep to win the Lonsdale Cup last time and he doesn’t look the force of old. I can’t bring myself to part with my hard earned at such a short price so I’m going to chance the improving RODRIGO DIAZ for David Simcock. This horse does tend to save a bit for himself but when he is good he has looked impressive. He chased home Hukum at Newbury last time and went close over a similar trip to this when second to Scaramanga in July. I think this test could suit and he looks a bit too big in the market.

Bar the front pair Nayef Road is obviously a player on his best form but he hasn’t been running to that level recently so is best watched for now. The Grand Visir is held on all known form but will give his running in behind too.

Doncaster 2.40

Rodrigo Diaz 5/1

Doncaster 3.15

This is fiercely competitive and you could easily back 2 or 3 in here but I’ve decided to just chance RHYTHMIC INTENT coming good again. I’ve always had a bit of a soft spot for this horse and he hasn’t done a lot wrong this season running on well from off the pace to finish fifth at 22/1 at York last month. I think he can win off this mark and if it pans out right for him he is overpriced. The harder they go the better it will be for him so hopefully the likes of Speedo Boy and Cardano take each other on early.

The danger I thought was Khatm. He needs to prove himself over this trip but that was a good run at Newcastle when second to Second Slip last time and he still has potential given his profile. Sevenna Star is fav at the time of writing but he hasn’t won since he was a 3yo and has been expensive to follow.

Doncaster 3.45

Another tricky handicap so I’ve taken two against the field here. My main play has to be CHAIRMANOFTHEBOARD for Mick Channon. He is finally below his last winning mark and caught the eye in fifth behind Great Ambassador at Newmarket on penultimate start. That form has been franked since and he shaped promisingly again when fifth to Just Frank at Thirsk last time. He was briefly denied a run but really found his stride late. If he builds on that again he is a danger to all in here and it’s good to see the market support coming for him this morning.

The other horse I have to include in here is the likeable MITROSONFIRE. He has won 2 of his last 3 and certainly wasn’t disgraced when denied the hat-trick by Regional at Haydock last time. The winner made all and is hugely unexposed so he may have even improved in defeat there. He runs off the same mark and even given how competitive this is he might not be done yet so has to be included. Asjad and Able Kane look the two big dangers with the former feared most.

Doncaster 4.20

Kingman filly NOTEBOOK has improved with every run and she was seen to good effect winning by over 4 lengths at Newmarket last time. She did hang when asked to go and settle it but still went forward and she looks to have a big engine. That form has worked out notably well since with the second Line Of Descent bolting up next time out and the third Auriferous chased home Derby second Mojo Star at Newbury. Even the fourth Constanta who weakened quite rapidly that day won her next start by 2 lengths at Wolverhampton so the form really couldn’t have worked out much better. She makes her handicap debut now and an opening mark of 88 surely underestimates her?

Sea La Rosa is another nice prospect here and she only went down half a length at York so looks the danger. That being said Ms Gandhi will be suited by this trip and is also feared in a good race.
