I did like Dynali for this initially but he has been taken out now and it’s quite open. I think GRAND LORD will go close for Stuart Edmunds. This 5yo caught the eye to some extent albeit beaten 10 lengths on return at Uttoxeter. He should strip a lot fitter for that run and the step up in trip here should prove ideal. He will need to improve but I’d be surprised if he didn’t in what looks a winnable race on paper. There is potential for a soft lead too so it will be interesting to see if Cieran Gethings capitalises on that.
Given the nature of the race LOW PROFILE might be worth an each way saver too at double digits. He obviously needs to show a lot more on previous efforts but up in trip with new headgear reached for he might run better here and looks a big price in a weak enough race. Unexpected Party can take a step forward but has been overbet for the Skelton’s and Motion In Limine also has to be feared.

With both Old Durham Town and Alright Marlene now out just the 8 horses head to post now and it looks a great opportunity for GETTHEPOT to get back in the winners enclosure. This son of Getaway bumped into the promising An Tailliur when second at Southwell and then build on that going down just a length on final start for Graeme McPherson at Ffos Las in the summer. He is open to further improvement on debut for his new yard and looks well placed to make a winning start.
Flexi Furlough looks the danger as she was an excellent second to Jaunty Soria at Perth on return last month and she should come forward from that up just 3lb. Be The Difference has been eased 2lb so enters calculations from a handicapping perspective and Not What It Seems also has to have a chance.

Ahoy Senor is a late non runner at Wetherby on Friday. He is entered at Carlisle on Sunday so I guess they have decided to take that route instead now. I really like the chances of ASHTOWN LAD now for Dan and Harry Skelton. This horse hacked up at Uttoxeter this time last year and while he went off the boil after he shaped much better following a wind op when fourth to Hometown Boy at Aintree in April. He should make into a nice chaser and looks the one to beat now.
Barbados Buck’s should have a future in this sphere too having reached a decent level over hurdles and he has to be respected but I don’t think there should be much between them in the betting. Deluxe Range and Buzz De Turcoing both have enough to find and are unlikely to get competitive.

Restandbethankful is quite short here as while he shaped as though he’d improve at Chepstow and that was reflected in the price he was sent off this is still quite competitive so it isn’t a given. SON OF RED is the one I want to chance against. He was only beaten 3 lengths on return at Lingfield and that run would have put him spot on for this now back over hurdles. He is lightly raced and could have a fair bit to come yet with the yard going great guns.
I’m surprised Herbiers is as big as he is in the betting too as I think he’ll leave that Chepstow run behind and he had won 3 of his last 4 to round off last campaign. Saint Arvans best of the rest and looks quite solid in terms of a place but probably vulnerable for win purposes.

This doesn’t look the best renewal but if PORTICELLO confirms his promise in France he could be the standout. He won nicely in Auteuil despite looking like having plenty to learn. Gary Moore would have done plenty of work with him since moving him over to the UK. He should have improved further and will be the one to beat in a race that might not take a great deal of winning. He has been well backed in the market which is another good sign.
Too Friendly would have been the danger but he is out now so that leaves the Alan King-trained Oceanline who is likely to get competitive following a promising second to the latter on debut over hurdles at Stratford. Sacre Pierre is 2-2 over timber but he will find this tougher so needs much more.

This looks wide open to me and I’m keen to give GALAHAD QUEST a chance. He was last seen winning a really tough handicap chase at Haydock and that form has worked out well since. He has run well fresh before and even up 6lb I think he is going to acquit himself well here. If he gets into a nice jumping rhythm under David Noonan he could easily outrun his price-tag of 12/1 at the time of writing.
Good Boy Bobby is plenty talented but he can spurn good opportunities so I wouldn’t want to be putting all my eggs in one basket with him. Eclair D’Ainay is a horse I like and he might emerge as a greater danger with more to come this season. The Big Bite is likeable and also deserves a second look not just today but going forward as well.

This is a wide open handicap chase and I am going to take a chance on CASA TALL’s improvement continuing here after a nice win at Newton Abbot in August. His last few runs around 2 miles clearly show that is where he is best based on the level of form achieved. He goes well off a break and I think he could be overpriced here. He is only up 2lb and this is probably more competitive but he is in with a big shout.
Larch Hill is the danger based his last two runs and he has seemingly stepped forward a fair bit recently. He is up 7lb but on the upward curve he is on you cannot discount him. Numitor has been the one for money this morning and he is unexposed so definitely has to be feared too – I couldn’t put you off.

Stream Of Stars ran a promising race when second at Bangor and has a big chance of going one better here but I’m going to give KNICKERBOCKERGLORY a go. He shaped with an abundance of promise on debut under Rules when second in a bumper at Ludlow and then improved back from a short break to win impressively at the same venue next time. He goes hurdling now and looks a nice prospect.
Of the rest Guardino won a bumper at Kempton 8 months ago and is bred to go jumping so should run well. Monte Igueldo also has to enter calculations on his British debut but this does look quite tough first-up.
