THE NAP (BEST BET) RUNS OVER JUMPS AT EXETER ON WEDNESDAY!
Exeter 1.10 I Am Maximus (4/5)
Exciting prospect who won his bumper despite showing clear signs of inexperience; beat My Drogo and that horse has progressed rapidly since; said to have done everything right at home and can remain unbeaten now tackling hurdles.
Nicky Henderson has made it no secret of what he thinks of I AM MAXIMUS describing him and Jonbon as the ‘top of a very good bunch’ of novice hurdlers and I expect him to make a winning start over timber here. He is the only horse to have beaten My Drogo and looks to have a really bright future if living up to expectations. Luttrell Lad made a winning start over hurdles at Worcester landing the odds in good style and then bumped into Camprond when second in the Persian War at Chepstow on just his second start last month. He is a good yardstick so if the selection beats him it will be a promising start and probably a horse to follow going forward. Judicial Law is easily best of the rest.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) RUNS OVER JUMPS AT BANGOR ON WEDNESDAY!
Bangor 3.30 Universal Dave (1/1)
Likeable type who made an impressive start over hurdles winning by 13 lengths at Fontwell last month, travelling strongly throughout and readily coming clear in the closing stages; the one to beat on that and more to come.
Another short price for one of our best bets but it’s that kind of day with just the 4 meetings and I’ll be surprised if UNIVERSAL DAVE is beaten at Bangor. He ran out a hugely impressive winner at Fontwell and while this is tougher he is improving fast and gets the vote to make it 2-2 over timber. Barrichello has placed on all 6 starts under Rules so is unlikely to be far away but he is vulnerable for win purposes. The Boola Boss might put up greater resistance as I thought he ran well when third in a bumper at Ffos Las and if he steps forward now tackling obstacles he should have a future. Twotwothree is yet to score over hurdles but was in winning form when last seen over fences.
