Bangor 12.30

Decent race to kick off the card at Bangor on Wednesday with VALUE TIP returning after a break. Cheekpieces seemed to have really helped this horse turn a corner and he was last seen making it 2 easy wins in row at Southwell. He will enjoy the decent ground and if full fit there looks to be plenty more to come yet. This is competitive granted but he could easily be a couple of steps ahead of the handicapper.

Crypto was last seen winning at Carlisle and only carries 6lb more here. My doubt with him would be this could be a bit quicker than he would like. The dangers look to be Yggdrasil who has been well backed overnight and Happy News who are in great form and the former could have a lot left to offer.

I’ve been a fan of NOTEBOOK since I saw her win her bumper at Cheltenham some 3 years ago now. She has done well since winning twice over hurdles and this Irish point winner is likely to come into her own now going chasing. This looks a good starting point for her and given she was the best of these over hurdles and better can be expected jumping a fence she gets a confident vote to come out on top.

Maskada is a likeable mare who has experience on side having finished third to Faivoir and Annual Invictus on her chase debut at Uttoxeter. The second has franked that form since so she is the danger. Emmas Joy represents the Skeltons’ and she can’t be ruled out either as she won 3 times over hurdles last season and can also make into a better chase but might need more time to be seen to best effect.

Bangor 1.30

This looks like a very good handicap with plenty of old favourites in here. It does like wide open but I will take a chance on CAPTAIN TOMMY who has a recent run at Market Rasen to set him up nicely for this. He will be better for the step up to 3 miles and off a mark of 125 he should go very well.

Snow Leopardess drops into easier company than when last seen and is the danger to them all if near full fitness. She ran with credit at Cheltenham and Aintree and is dropped a few pounds in this easier race. Belami Des Pictons is another off a much lower mark now and could bounce back with a big run.

Bangor 2.00

Painless Potter made an encouraging start over hurdles when third at Kempton. It was reported after that he lost a shoe so that run can be marked up as well. He has a big shout but I just thought he was a bit skinny in the betting so BOOK OF SECRETS might be worth chancing on debut for Dan Skelton. He reached a decent level on the Flat and has had a wind op ahead of his hurdles debut for a top yard.

Painless Potter is the danger if improving and Saint Segal is definitely worth a second look being fairly well related. The Guvnor has been backed and should appreciate this better ground so a fair bit of strength in depth here.

Bangor 2.30

Not a very deep maiden and you can see why HERMES BOY is a short price favourite for this. He stepped forward from his bumper third to run a cracker on hurdles debut last month. That is the best form of the limited form that is on offer and if improving for the run he will be hard to beat.

Dan Skelton runs Whenthepennydrops who ran well at Ascot in a national hunt flat race and if she improves for jumping a hurdle she will be right in the mix here. Creative Control would have to step forward on what he has shown so far but I wouldn’t rule him out in first-time headgear.

Bangor 2.30

Hermes Boy 4/6

Bangor 3.00

I was at Newmarket when Goobinator stuck to the task for fourth in the Cesarewitch and he is likely to go well back over hurdles but I want to take a chance on LLANDINABO LAD here. This horse ran a cracker when second to My Drogo at Ascot last year and while he wasn’t seen to best effect the next twice he still retains potential for me and back from a break having undergone wind surgery he could be a big player here off a mark of 141.

The hat-trick seeking Isthebaropen looks the danger if handling a 5lb rise. Umbrigado is quite a big price as on his best form he would have a big shout in this as well for David Pipe. Bucko’s Boy best of the rest.

Bangor 3.30

A competitive novice event to cap off the day at Bangor and we have UNIVERSAL DAVE as a hot favourite after winning with ease at Fontwell on hurdles debut. He will improve for that as he was off since April before that. He is the one to beat even if he may not have it as easy here.

Barrichello after a wind-op, Twotwothree and The Boola Boss have to be dangers especially if the wind-op brings out improvement in the former. Twotwothree has the form over fences and if applying it to hurdles he has to be considered. The Boola Boss will improve now tackling obstacles but will need to.
