THE NAP (BEST BET) RUNS OVER JUMPS AT CHEPSTOW ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON!
Chepstow 2.55 Young Butler (6/4)
Half-brother to Put The Kettle On so bred to be smart; plenty of encouragement to be had from his debut third over hurdles here last month; sure to improve from that initial experience and expected to be hard to beat now.
I thought YOUNG BUTLER shaped with a great deal of promise when third over C&D on his hurdles debut last month. The winner Stage Star looks a really nice prospect and the second Deeper Blue also looks promising so I have no reason to doubt that form with the front 3 nicely clear. He should step forward from that initial experience and can make the most of this opportunity. Offyoupop was expected to do better on debut under Rules when third in a bumper at Wincanton but should have a future. He might just need the experience though and on what we’ve seen the fav should be hard to beat. Iceburgh Bay won an Irish point at the second time of asking and also has to be noted in opposition.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) WON YESTERDAY AND RUNS AT ASCOT ON FRIDAY!
Ascot 12.55 Torn And Frayed (13/8)
Tough sort who made an encouraging start over fences when third to Annual Invictus at Cheltenham last month; form has been franked since; sure to improve and looks well placed to open his account in this sphere.
With Glory And Honour out there are just 4 heading to post for this which is a bit of a shame but TORN AND FRAYED should take all the beating. He shaped with promise when third to Annual Invictus at Cheltenham and with that horse following up at Plumpton and even the fifth Back On The Lash winning the Cross Country the form has a strong look to it now. He is sure to improve from that initial experience and I think he can confirm those placings with Faivoir who is second in the betting here. He is also still capable of better so has to be feared and Cascova should also have a future in this sphere but might need the run back from a 236-day absence. Good race but fav will be hard to peg back.
