This looks a wide open race and let’s hope all 16 hold their ground to get the 4 places. RICKY LANGFORD looks a good each way bet as he seems to be in top form over both hurdles and fences. James O’Sullivan gets on really well with him winning by 5 lengths and a close second in their last two partnerships. He looks to be off a nice weight and should be right in the mix.
Clarens looks the danger even up another 9lb. He won his last two handicaps nicely and should go well again. Of the rest The Dasher Conway could be in the mix as he is one of the most unexposed in the field and won easily back in May.

Gordon Elliott will be hopeful NOTEBOOK can make a winning start over hurdles at Navan on Sunday. This horse looked a nice prospect winning a bumper at Tipperary in March and put away since he could be a nice prospect for the yard to go to war with over hurdles this season. I liked the attitude he showed to go clear and that didn’t look a bad race. He’ll need to leave that behind to remain unbeaten here but Hans Gruber doesn’t set an insurmountable level despite shaping better when second to Three Stripe Life at Fairyhouse last time. I do expect the pair to fight it out with the selection taken to improve past him.
Bust Or Bray Dee is a stablemate to the selection and he showed potential when runner-up at Gowran but I think the selection could have a bit of star quality so is strongly fancied to better that form.

This race has produced some top novice hurdlers in the past and a few in here look to have a lot of potential. No more so than HOLLOW GAMES who has won 4 races with very little fuss. He made his hurdles debut last month at Down Royal which looks the best run of any of these so far. He looks to have plenty to come and should make it 5 runs, 5 wins.
There are a couple of dangers, stablemate Ginto impressed on hurdles debut and Lunar Display who has been running well in mares events but will need to find a bit more to beat the selection.
Navan 2.20
This is another wide open handicap but I think GASPARD DU SEUIL can be rewarded for his consistency. He is still lightly raced after just 5 runs and ran a cracker when second over C&D last time. If he repeats that sort of effort here he might not get run down this time. He is up 3lb but the pair were clear and the field was well strung out. He still has potential to improve again and I’m surprised he is as big as 5/1 to be honest.
Jimmy Jimmy has won 2 of his last 3 and clocked a career best at Punchestown. He is back from a lengthy layoff though in first-time cheekpieces so might do better for the run. Fissa is a stablemate to the selection but he also looks capable of better on handicap hurdle debut.
Navan 2.50
Gordon Elliott has a brilliant record in this race and has the top 4 in the market at the time of writing. RUN WILD FRED is the selection after he started the season finishing second in a Grade 3 won by the classy Cape Gentleman. He ended last season with some cracking performances in some big handicaps and off 145 he will go well here.
Stablemate Farclas is a big danger if bouncing back after unseating his rider last time out but I actually think Definite Plan could be the main danger after getting up late at Cheltenham last month. The way he finished suggests there may be more to come.
Navan 3.20
No a lot separates CAYD BOY and Mt Leinster on that Wexford run but with this extra furlong likely to suit the former he gets the vote. I thought he shaped as though he’d come on for the run on that occasion and given Mt Leinster can make the odd mistake or two I think he will beat him comfortably here. He is likely to get a nice toe into the race and I think he’ll be finishing the stronger. Mark Walsh is riding really well at the moment so I think he will give him a confident ride.
Bar those two Kapard is also worth a mention as she should have a future over fences as well. We haven’t seen her for 286 days though so she is entitled to come on for the run but still worth keeping an eye on her.
Navan 3.50
This is a wide open national hunt flat race so I am going to have small stake on THE MODEL KINGDOM who romped home on debut at Galway last month. A few of the horses in behind have placed since so the form looks solid and she should have a big say here.
I would be even more bullish but there look to be some useful sorts in here including Agritime for Emmet Mullins and Nos Na Gaoithe for Willie Mullins. Both should be thereabouts based on their last runs.
