NAP – Best selection of the evening
Kempton 5.30 Siskany (1/1)
Won in the style of a progressive horse at Newmarket on return and that form has worked out notably well since with the second winning the November Handicap; Newbury came too soon and should get back on track here.
I know SISKANY was turned over at short odds last time but that just came too soon after that reappearance win and given time since switched to the AW he can resume his progress. The way he beat subsequent November Handicap winner Farhan was very impressive and he is clearly a horse with tons of ability. This is a good race but he is definitely the star quality in the field and I’ll be surprised if he’s beaten. Garden Paradise is a filly I like but I’m not sure she is up to Listed level yet even though she won well at Wolverhampton. She might be value to grab a place so I’ve had a small saver. The other danger would have to beat Fox Tal but he definitely doesn’t put it all in.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) RUNS AT HAYDOCK ON WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON!
Haydock 1.50 Coconut Splash (6/4)
Improving chaser who has bumped into some smart horses and shaped as though he’d come on for the run when third at Exeter on return; fitter now and step back up in trip can help so looks the one to beat now.
I know COCONUT SPLASH was popular at Exeter and the initial reaction was quite negative towards him but I thought he just shaped as though he’d improve for the run and connections look to have found a good opportunity here going back up in trip. He still has plenty of potential and I’m confident he can get back on track here. Kiltealy Briggs is the danger and there’s a good chance he’ll get a soft lead so he will take a bit of catching but I do think he lacks the quality the selection brings to the table. Mint Condition did well over hurdles and if he takes to fences he could run well but probably needs more time and experience. Burrows Edge has a lengthy absence to overcome and this is a tough ask.
