Plumpton 12.30

Despite pulling hard NOTEBOOK still had enough in the tank to pull clear and win impressively at Catterick last month. That was quite impressive and if he can drop his head here and get a nice toe in I think he’ll be coming up the Plumpton hill best of all as he does look a horse with gears.

It’s by no means a weak race though and Stream Of Stars is likely to put up some resistance. He did it nicely at Ludlow and also looks a promising horse going forward. Aucunrisque represents the Chris Gordon yard who have won the last two runnings of this so he could go well on hurdles debut but I prefer to side with those with experience. Any Given Sunday won at Huntingdon and while I was quite impressed with that the form doesn’t look up to much so he is definitely going to need to improve especially to trouble the selection.

Nassalam reached a decent level over hurdles before going off the boil somewhat but has seemed rejuvenated by the switch to fences winning both starts. He was probably held last time before the race fell apart though and Jamie Moore certainly didn’t sound convinced after. He might just be opposable here at short odds. FOR PLEASURE won 4 times over hurdles and wasn’t disgraced behind Edwardstone at Warwick. If he steps forward from that he might not come back to them here.

It wouldn’t even surprise me if Kid Commando was a greater danger than Nassalam. He shaped with promise behind the latter on chase debut at Ascot and if he can settle and come forward from that he may well finish second to the selection.

Plumpton 1.30

This looks a good maiden with some potentially nice horses lining up. Perhaps none more so than SANDY BROOK for local trainer Chris Gordon. He ran a solid race on his seasonal comeback in what looked an above average maiden. It is likely he will be better for the run and is the one to beat here but will need to step-forward as expected as this certainly won’t be a given.

Whistleinthedark ran his best race down at 2 miles on his comeback run and if he can show the improvement over this trip he will be the main danger. The Trampolinist is the other horse who could be right in the mix as she seems to be improving with every run over hurdles.

Plumpton 2.00

This is a tricky race with 3 or 4 in with very good chances but I like the claims of I SEE YOU WELL with handy 3lb claimer Sean Houlihan booked for the ride. His last 3 wins have come over this C&D and he won this exact race 3 years ago. He should come on for that Exeter reappearance and back down in class everything points towards a big run. He is a decent each way price at 6/1 too so I’m expecting a bold display.

Dr Kananga is fav at the time of writing and while I respect he will have more to come this is competitive and he is short enough in the betting off a 3lb higher mark. Hard To forget won this 2 years ago and also has to enter the reckoning in new headgear.

Plumpton 2.30

This is such a tough race to call with question marks over plenty of these. FORT DE L’OCEAN is in good form after a second over fences followed by a second in a seller over hurdles. If he can maintain that form back in a handicap he is going to be right in the mix in what is a winnable race with a bit of consistency and he looks the solid bet (put him in the Mixed Acca to place).

Hey Bob is the likely danger after finishing second on both of his last 2 starts in similar races and has been dropped a pound here. Sawpit Sienna could play her part if fit after a break and she looks capable off this mark as well.

Plumpton 3.00

I’m going to take a chance on one in here at a price and that horse is GO PHARISEE FLYER for Warren Greatrex. The yard have been a bit quiet so far this season but this horse wasn’t disgraced on return at Taunton and if he strips fitter from that down 3lb he definitely has a chance in here. He jumped left on that occasion so the switch to this track will suit and if he gets into a nice rhythm under Gavin Sheehan he can run well at a price.

Guguss Collonges was only beaten 6 lengths on debut over fences at Lingfield and with improvement expected he looks the danger. Not a great deal of value in his price though. En Coeur is performing to a consistent level and he might be close-up again here. Dont Be Robin is up 7lb which makes things tougher.

Plumpton 3.30

National Hunt flat races are always tough to call and this race is no different. HEY FRANKIE ran a good race on debut at Taunton in October and if making progress from that she will be the one to beat. This slight step up in trip will help as well so I think she has more going for her than most in here.

Peerless Beauty won her point-to-point before two good efforts in this sphere. She may not have as much scope as the selection but a run to the level of her last run would see he go well. Fairy Gem looks smart on paper and could be best of the newcomers but obviously lacks experience which can prove vital.
