NAP – Best selection of the evening

Fakenham 2.20 Lelantos (5/4)

Ran a cracker denied just a neck by a good horse at Fontwell last month and quickly built on that to make the breakthrough at Southwell last time; this looks a good opportunity for him to follow up so worth keeping on side.

Nudged up just 3lb LELANTOS probably won’t need to find much more to win this. He has looked a better horse since his stamina has been drawn out and this test should prove ideal. I expect him to race on the speed under Nico de Boinville and he should prove tough to pass late on. The Knot Is Tied didn’t look to be crying out for this sort of trip when only third at Aintree but that was still a creditable effort. Let supporters down again at Uttoxeter last time so has enough to prove coming into this even though he will find it easier the trip still has to be a concern. Tiny Tantrum remains unexposed so shouldn’t be entirely ruled out but he also has enough to prove on the balance of his recent form.

NB – Second best selection of the day

THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) RUNS ON THE AW AT KEMPTON!

Kempton 1.30 Pretty Sweet (7/4)

Likeable filly who has held her form well since winning at Bath in September; again ran up to form when denied narrowly at Wolverhampton; this winnable so hard to get away from as should be rewarded for consistency.

I’ll be surprised if PRETTY SWEET doesn’t go close here. She has been a bit unlucky not to have won since that Bath victory back in September and with main market rival Crown Power looking a bit reluctant to win I think she will be rewarded for her consistency here. She is certainly capable off this mark and if things drop right she should be holding on well at the finish under Callum Shepherd. Crown Power is the danger with her only win coming over track and trip but she seems to save a bit for herself and only really got going when it was race over C&D last time. I think she is opposable and Santa Florentina might even give her a race for second if building on that latest runner-up here.
